Temps in the high 40s this morning, but it is expected to climb to the blistering 60s today! Too bad the neighbors closed their pool, huh?

So what exactly are the Republicans willing to negotiate? Are they going to fund Obamacare now?

Obamacare has more regulations for health care providers, hospitals, nursing homes, doctors, and insurance companies because the ACA is also trying to make medical care costs more affordable.
The actual insurance they are required to buy is different. And the regulations are going to doom the law as medical providers cut staff and services and young people decide to pay the fine instead of sign up because the restrictions on underwriting make their insurance unaffordable.

If law were ONLY about the individual mandate, I'd agree with it wholeheartedly. But the devil is in the details, and the details will doom this law.

The CBO says repealing the ACA would drive up the Deficit.

Time will tell, but I believe I read numbers recently that it very well could drive the deficit up for several years. Our ever-increasing debt is another worry. "Since debt levels are calculated by adding the deficit to the amount of existing debt," [eHow on the web], how high can it climb before it can't be corrected without major consequences for all of us?

    Greetings, Jack.

    Happy Wednesday, Polgara.

We're in uncharted territory on the debt.

    ...
    From the CBO

CBO and JCT projected that the provisions of the ACA related to health insurance coverage would cost the federal government
$759 billion during fiscal years 2014 through 2019 (which was the last year in the 10-year budget window being used at that time). The newest projections indicate that those provisions will cost $710 billion over that same period. As shown in the figure below, the intervening projections of the cost of the ACA’s coverage provisions for those years have all been close to those figures on a year-by-year basis; of course, the 10-year totals have changed as the time frame for the estimates has shifted.

Those amounts do not reflect the total budgetary impact of the ACA. That legislation includes many other provisions that, on net, will reduce budget deficits. Taking the coverage provisions and other provisions together, CBO and JCT have estimated that the
ACA will reduce deficits over the next 10 years and in the subsequent decade.
