Anyway, ok, let's run with that. We'll even keep this to a single example to avoid confusion. Let's use the example somebody else posted earlier in this thread where they coned off scenic highway pull-outs so that people could not take photos of Mt Rushmore. Areas that are otherwise unblocked and unmanned 24/7.

Please articulate how that act was "essential".

then you are a hypocrite and everything you say on the matter is just babble.

The park service said they placed the cones there to channel traffic not to block off the pull- outs.
Anyway the cones have been removed.

Really? Cones along a public highway to prevent viewing of a National Monument...And I'm sure they used a contractor to place the cones (not even gov't employees)...
I bet if they had a tarp big enough they'd have covered the mountain as well so nobody could even see it.

    too funny!

In fact there is photo shopped photo of two helicopters in front of Mt. Rushmore holding a movie screen which is blocking the monument.

And you believe that? You're either a sucker or your being willfully disingenuous and partisan and argumentative.

But, just for fun, let's say you're right. Why weren't the cones there prior to the shutdown? Traffic channeling wasn't an issue previously. Can you explain the "coincidence" that they were suddenly needed at this particular time?

Also note that they were only removed after the state complained and not even the local feds could justify the absurdity of it... yet here you are trying to do what even they cannot.

I haven't seen that, but it would be funny.

If the govt and its monuments are closed why were illegal aliens / criminals who should be arrested by LE allowed to march on the Capital Mall, build a stage / podium and have an "event?" How can they close off a cement structure and not the capital mall?

As I understand it, that's a "1st Amendment event" and cannot legally be denied over something like a government shutdown.

I'm sorry - what part of representative government don't you understand or respect? If the people in a politician's district, otherwise known as the constituents he/she represents, expect their representative to keep their promises and do as they say when they got elected, how is that funny? What's funny is people thinking that honest and consistent politicians are somehow dangerous or a threat to democracy - that's what's really funny.

“It’s a cheap way to deal with the situation,” an angry Park Service ranger in Washington says of the harassment. “We’ve been told to make life as difficult for people as we can. It’s disgusting.”
