Boehner: Obama should negotiate on debt, but not with me

I don't think anyone knows wtf the House is doing.
It looks like they have a defacto Speaker in Cruz.
You guys keep taking away billions on food stamps.

What do you think of my mid-term convention in St. Louis?
We could then transition right to a Constitutional convention for all citizens, not pols.

I'm not aware the House has given up the power of the purse...

Maybe because one party is ideologically and financially beholden to special interests such as QUOTE]

such as corporate types.

This will be a tough lift defending even for you.

Why so adamant about the personal mandate? Did you hear that Walgreens announced today that they will be ending HC coverage for their employees and sending them to the exchanges? How do you think those employees feel this evening?

Walgreens moves workers to private health-care exchange - The Washington Post

and Walgreen's business decision makes the argument for defunding the Affordable care act how?

just a question: how many people will suffer when the affordable care act is defunded?

for example, the current proposal to defund obama care would also defund the CHIP Program.

A House Republican proposal to defund the Affordable Care Act would also devastate a program that insured over 8 million moderate-income children this year, Democrats said on Thursday.

Under the government funding bill proposed by the House -- which includes Rep. Steve Scalise's (R-La.) amendment defunding Obamacare -- the Children's Health Insurance Program would lose about $13.3 billion dollars, or 70 percent of its funding, on October 1. CHIP provides health insurance coverage to children whose families earn too much to qualify for Medicaid, but still cannot afford private coverage. The program was set to expire at the end of this month, but the Affordable Care Act reauthorized and funded it through 2015.

GOP Obamacare Defunding Bill Would Gut Children's Health Insurance Program

Only the Congress or States can call for a convention for the purpose of amending the Constitution...

Medicaid is still available...

you don't get it:

CHIP provides health insurance coverage to children whose families earn too much to qualify for Medicaid, but still cannot afford private coverage.

CHIP is for people who earn too much to qualify for medicaid but still cannot afford private coverage

I thought Cruz was a Senator.

You're not foolishly trying to suggest that only Republicans have favorite "corporate types", are you?

You chose an add-on to respond to, don't blame you.
Dangerous times demand something totally new with a CC.
Now your team has started a statement on who is shutting the "whole damn thing down".
What is next to defund after food stamps? Social Security, etc

Listen, let me tell you where I'm coming from. I smoke, and the damn taxes I and others pay are supposed to be funding CHIP. If the parents can't afford coverage, don't have the children...

Don't be so dramatic. It's not becoming...

Choice is choice, and you cannot justify getting rid of a system just because it supports people and family's who did not make the same life decisions as you

And you're not blaming a House bill even Repub senators won't sustain a cloture are you?
Does Canada pay her bills on time?
Do Canada pols work more than 40 days in 5 months as our House?
And look at the excretement so far from the GOP House.

I don't need to justify it. I didn't have children I couldn't support...

There is no need for that.

More dodge ball from the politico days--no discussion of this WTF is this House doing?
And that's from Repub senators.

They are trying to delay the implementation of the PPACA which, given the President's actions, should be done in "fairness" to the country's citizens...

Do you have recent polling data to support this statement?

Total diversion. This is like people telling me I was completely wrong about schools having conceal carry. When you prove that schools do have CC, they minimize and still ridicule. This diversion is the GOP style.

I post opinion, but if someone wants to post something as fact, I expect support for it...

Boehner is not being portrayed as a villain: he is being portrayed as incapable of handling his position as speaker of the house. The affordable care act may not be the best attempt at reforming healthcare system, But obama has managed to pass a bill that tries to something previous presidents who have failed to pass similar bills that reform the healthcare system.

The affordable care act, for all of its flaws, is the first healthcare reform bill that any president has sucessfully signed into law, and that is why it is historic.

And that historical achievement is now a hostage, the required sacrifice needed to allow the government to function and raise the debt ceiling.

The debt ceiling is not something to bargain over, the full faith and credit of the united states government should not be risked to satisfy one parties obsession in destroying something they view as ideological blasphemy.

The majority of the population is against obamcare and was against it when it passed. The democratic party has been trying to take over healthcare since FDR and his second bill of rights and with the passing of Obamacare that was designed to fail according to Reid they have a path forward to get there. If you want to call forcing people to buy and provide things to others against their will a flaw in Obamcare, fine, but to call a law that does it a historic achievement is a bad joke. This is a law that forces people into commerce and is meant to fail and you're out calling it an achievement? Give me a ****ing break.

I love how the "we support democracy" crowd has a tendency to pass laws everyone hates and then sits around saying "you will love it when it goes into effect" because hey, ignoring the people is fine if they love it in the end. :lamo

Because that is the point of what the Repubs in the House are doing.

Actually, if the Senate and Obama don't go along, they alone will be at fault for a government shutdown.

I actually want to see it happen so that very theory can be tested in the midterm elections. I look forward to seeing that result.
