The federal government exists at the pleasure of the States, not the other way around...

Not necessarily - the House has passed lots of bills that the Senate has ignored and failed to negotiate - the House should pass what the majority party supports in their majority, and if Democrats come along, that's fine, if they don't, it will rise or fall on the merits.

Never posted that there wouldn't be effects, but that's not what you posted. When the federal government shut down in 1995, did State governments do so as well? No. They're separate and distinct...

It's not just the left in the Senate - saw McCain on CNN earlier pontificating as only he can about how they won't vote for any bill that defunds Obamacare so it's a non-starter.

The affordable care act, for all of its flaws, is the first healthcare reform bill that any president has sucessfully signed into law, and that is why it is historic.

And that historical achievement is now a hostage, the required sacrifice needed to allow the government to function and raise the debt ceiling.

The debt ceiling is not something to bargain over, the full faith and credit of the united states government should not be risked to satisfy one parties obsession in destroying something they view as ideological blasphemy.
So let's get this straight - you applaud Obama and Democrats for adopting healthcare legislation, without any Republican support, that the majority of the American people don't want - but you criticize Boehner for agreeing to pass a bill with mostly Republican support that represents what the majority of Republican members got elected on and that the majority of their constituents want them to do.

That's a strange understanding of representational government.

the house republicans pass bills that are only in line with their conservative philosophy: gut epa regulations, gut financial regulations, create oil pipe lines that create only a small amount of jobs and have the potential of becoming ecological nightmares, nearly every bill they have passed has had something to do with limiting or cutting the effectiveness of federal programs. and what are they offering to give the democrats in exchange for passing their legislation? what things are conservitives are willing to give to liberals in exchange for passing legislation?

It may garner Dem votes as well. I believe 24 Dems crossed the aisle to vote for the bill to delay ACA for a year...
