Note: In the linked surveys a distinction is made between marriage and civil unions.

Poll numbers show drop in support for same-sex marriage among TX voters

New poll shows highest number of Texans support gay relationships
So peoples lives and rights are a matter of public opinion polls?

Social Security I bet is going recognize this couple as married unless they get a legal divorce.

do other states still consider them married while in texas? yes
can the file taxes as a married couple while IN taxes? yes
Texas has no state tax, therefore they are filing federal taxes. Texas doesn't have to recognize marriage for the purpose of federal taxes.
