I am pretty sure i have seen people BBQ in florida. Had he chosen to burn a few korans instead of 3000 at once he could certainly have found a place to do that legally. I also notice that witnesses say he had a gun, but I do not see any report from the police they seized one. I do certainly hope the police did not act without getting evidence. It might be bad for the town if they had. Perhaps the news left that part out.

Driving while pulling a BarBQue grill full of kerosene soaked Koran's is not illegal anywhere. A burn permit is often required in Florida on private property. I tried to get one for some dead orange trees and was denied because my grove was residential and not commercial. The fire marshal did tell me that I could get a couple buddies together and have a couple beers and a bonfire without a permit though. Go figure.

The cops are going to have a difficult time justifying arresting this guy and but he has every right to do what he wants with his private property. He just can't do it on public property without permission.

Come on, transporting 3000 books soaked in a flammable liquid on the highway is stupid. Otherwise I would be all for him practicing his free speech, no matter how stupid.

I am not a proponent of book burning... that includes all sorts of books...

    The Nazis burned books.

I have agreed with that from the beginning. 3000 kerosene soaked books in a towed BBQ doesn't sound very safe to me. Even burning that many in a park had he transported the materials properly would probably be a felony. For that stupidity he does deserve some charges. If he was carrying a firearm in an illegal way that too would be reason to arrest him also. But then the argument against it should be that he broke the law, and not that it endangers the lives of soldiers and that the town has a ability to stop him from burning books within the legally accepted way like perhaps a couple at a time in a safe manner in a BBQ in a proper place. He could have taken the three thousand, some kerosene, had a fire pit and burned the hell out of them. I know I have hung around fire pits in florida that were completely legal and we could have easily tossed some books in for fun.

The nazis were not burning books in protest, they were cleansing the world of those books. There are so many korans in the world 3000 doesn't even make a dent. Not to mention there is no ban on printing them so they will just make more. You can be against it as you want, but it is a legitimate form of protest and you should stop using godwins law when you have no real point.
