Russia says the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) has confirmed that the videos and photos purporting to show the victims of a chemical attack near the Syrian capital, Damascus, were fabricated.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a Tuesday statement that international experts as well as Syrian public and religious leaders presented their evidence to the 24th session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on September 9.

So yeah. if this is true, and the photos were faked, then by all means, the whole thing was either masterminded by someone else (hint hint, alqaeda) to get the US into war or it was done by a third party. Anyway... the good thing is that due to cool heads and diplomacy, the military intervention was postponed and now that syria accepted to hand over all it's chemical weapons, there is no reason why a military intervention should happen.

If it can be faked once, it can be faked again. There is no way for Syria to prove it doesn't have something.

Re: UN Human Rights Council says Syria gas attack videos, photos fake

1400 people are dead from a gas attack. Those people are still dead whether the photos are faked, or not. We should not get mired in a discussion of who is actually the worst player in Syria.

PressTV is a very poor source.. like Debka, WND.

PressTV is much worse than WND. At least WND is somehow related to something that probably actually happened in some way. Sure, they're both hate-based, but one is a totalitarian media outlet and the other is a group of demonization entertainers.

No reason at all.

Neither source is reliable Rainman.

EDIT: I'm not even sure what EUtimes is, but their source is PressTV (the Iraning gov mouthpiece - Conspiracy Theory Random Generator basically), so my first impression isn't good.

It's ironic that the Iranian regime would accuse others of fake photos.

That some people believe it, based on claims by the Iranian regime, is hysterical.

I always loved that WMD was bilking widows over the largest oil reserve in the world in 1998.. and they never sank a pipe.. It was exploration based on a water witch and scripture.

I didn't know press.tv has such a bad reputation.
Anyway, it was picked up and posted by eutimes, which is not a unreliable source. That's why I posted it.

I won't post any news that comes from press.tv anymore if you guys say it's a bad news site. Thanks for letting me know, cheers. :)

EUtimes uses PressTV as its source though - check the Source link at the end of the EUtimes article.

PressTV is the media arm of the Iranian regime. You can't figure out for yourself that it's a bad source?

I know eutimes used press.tv as a source, that's why I put both there to show both the article which I quoted the text from and it's source. But ofc, if the source is unreliable, then the article they took is unrealiable.

I honestly never heard of presstv till now. It's not the site i usually go for news...

"It also said evidence provided by numerous witnesses confirms that militants fighting against the Syrian government used chemical weapons in the Damascus suburb of western Ghouta last month. "

Soooo... bomb the rebels?

Heya RM. :2wave: As long as the piece is referenced out for validation. Then they aint talkin about nothin' other than to deflect.

Really?

The online news site European Union Times (EUT) — which recently “broke” a story about President Obama preparing for an imminent civil war — is being cited as a credible source by several libertarian bloggers who are hyping the story.

It turns out the EUT was created in October and is registered to the wife of a racist skinhead gang member who was involved in a bizarre stabbing incident last month.

Metapedia The Alternative Encyclopedia is a website with information about everything just like wikipedia. The only difference is that Metapedia is only for whites therefore it will not delete pro-white information added in there by whites. Wikipedia is renowned for it’s censorship, targeting especially pro-white people articles, labeling them as “hate” or “the neutrality of this article is being disputed”.

Re: UN Human Rights Council says Syria gas attack videos, photos fake

well, i never read that news now did I?

Most other reports it posts are pretty solid from the times I visit it. Though I only visited it rarely. Still.

If Eutimes is indeed a bad news site to get info, I don't see it any worse than fox news, msnbc or nbc. so yeah.
I'm not taking it's defense, I have no stake in the EUtimes. I'm just saying.

You don't think that a crazy blog by a skinhead gang member is worse than mainstream news?

Re: UN Human Rights Council says Syria gas attack videos, photos fake

presstv.ir; the "ir" stands for Iran. This is a government propaganda website, designed to make local citizens distrust the UN and the US. It's not reliable. It's among a slew of similar websites produced in the middle east and also in Communist countries, solely to discredit the western world. I'm not a "the US govt. could never lie to me" sort of guy, but I'm definitely going to take their word over Iran's.

Re: UN Human Rights Council says Syria gas attack videos, photos fake

Worst OP citations ever. Who could think someone could top presstv, in the same OP. Impressive.

It depends what you consider by "worse". i think the impact mainstream media sources have on society is far greater than what the eutimes is capable of, and to a far greater harmful effect. Even if it is run by a skinhead, doesn't mean that all the articles on the site are tainted by skinhead-ism.
