Obama : I Might Lose Congressional Vote on Syria....

As of this morning's news, Assad has agreed. Now what, other than the rebels have been given time to hide as many chemical weapons, for future use, as they can. We'd be wise to stay out of this quagmire, IMO.

Amen to that. I'm with you 100%

I am a bit confused.

If Obama is talking to the boss, why would Kerry be talking to employees?

Can't the boss get things done?

That is like having a problem in a resturant and while your wife asks the manager about his family, you tell the buss boy about the problem.

Heya Mason. :2wave: Well truthfully Right now that's all they do is talk. Plus they can't seem to remember what they were saying out of their mouths less than a month ago. Especially on how well lines of communication were open......with Putin and Russia.

Which says nothing about Obama ignoring Ban Ki Moon at the time.

Interesting question and the truth is I don't know. Hopefully Putin is successful and that alleviates any need for a strike and all this becomes a lot of talk over something that doesn't happen. Something that held the number one spot in the news for a couple of weeks and then totally disappears. At least I hope so.

I don't think this could disappear completely as Obama has shown he is not capable of being a leader. This could affect the next Democratic nominee.

Who wants another weak President?

I think I saw a report yesterday that Reid won't call for a vote in the Senate.

What happens if Congress never votes on this?

Yep, I got up in post 16 of this thread Mason. ;)

Now, now CJ. People need to cut him some slack, since he is still in the process of "evolving." :?:  The ironic thing about Syria is that something like 90% of the people in this country, on both sides of the aisle, said :bs and hollered NO to invading Syria until the truth was known! Could this mean that people are becoming more discriminating in discerning what is nonsence, and that some things are just not believable, no matter what the frenzied hype is? I wonder...

Now, now Lady P. You're confusing evolving with just sitting there and rotating. Perhaps Valerie's on vacation and Barry hasn't yet had his mind made up for him.

Hopefully, the next president will be one who governs and doesn't campaign all the time.

I still think the President's chances in the senate is only 50-50 and as I see it, no way will the house go along. If the congress shoots him down along with the mood of the country being overwhelming against any strike against Syria, I would advise against. If he goes against congress, his approval rating may fall into the 30 percent range. That might make anything he tries to do from now on irrelavent.

Good afternoon Pero - I think you're right about both the Senate and the House - I see Harry Reid pulled back on a scheduled test vote in the Senate scheduled for tomorrow and has not rescheduled yet - not sure if that means he's nowhere near the votes or the President has some new twist he's about to announce tonight.

As for being irrelevant, I've been saying that ever since he travelled the country in his campaign bus claiming that sequestration had to stop or it would be the end of civilization as we know it - that's the snapshot in time when the majority of people in America saw him for what he is and started tuning him out.

In a series of six network interviews planned as part of a furious lobbying campaign in Congress, Obama said statements suggesting that Syria might agree to surrender control of its chemical weapons stockpile were a potentially positive development.

At the same time, he said they were yet another reason for lawmakers to give him the backing he is seeking.

"If we don't maintain and move forward with a credible threat of military pressure, I do not think we will actually get the kind of agreement I would like to see," he said on CNN.

Which is why, as Commander in Chief in full control of the US military, you don't go to Congress until you have exhausted all diplomatic options, genius.

I am thinking the republicans need to fire people like gingrich and rove and hire assad and putin to run their party. They are just as corrupt and freedom hating as the republicans, they love religion, and they seem to win against Obama.

I find it interesting to note who is more interested in discussing how the events in Syria might affect the nation and who is more interested in discussing how those events might effect Obama

IMO, it's a pretty good way to separate the hacks from the non-hacks

Myself.....I tend to look at who knows what National Security is really about. Then the Physical Security of the US. Tends to put it all into perspective when it comes to the sheep. ;)

Our Repup congressman who you know as an active Air National Guard pilot who is a veteran, Adam Kinzinger, has been way out front supporting Obama's call from the beginning. Link soon. He complained on Sunday TV about noone from Obama contacting him yet, which they promptly did.

The Times
This paper is a huge supporter of the Congressman.
Notice the two people in the picture, a minority and a woman.
This is a Conservative Con. Dis., 85% White before the remap.
The editor was none too subtle with TODAY's picture.

So, how does the sheep of that district make up for knowing about the National and the Physical Security of the US.....doesn't matter if they lean Right or Left. Sheep are sheep no matter where they live.

Yeah and Mark Kirk supported him too......that's also despite knowing that Rebel/Terrorists had used Chems and that's with the UN saying both sides committed atrocities.

Course you already know over half the Democrats in the House don't support him with this action over Syria.

Obama went to the G-20, saw Putin, Putin leaned on the Syrians, all sides will claim a win-win, Syria went from not having Chemicals to giving them up overnight, the hope that the civil war will end with Putin's help, a good time at the 2014 Olympics, Putin looking like the NOBEL, and the World is better.

What you are seeing is everyone understanding that the bull crap Obama's diplomatic team has been running with over the last month has forced us into a catch 22 where there are no good outcomes for the US in this crisis. This frustration is compounded by the fact that it didn't have to happen. All Obama had to do was not make stupidly specific threats in public when he obviously had no expectation of having to act on it.

Out looking for friends as usual? Illinois is all over the International stage on Syria, with Durbin trying to whip Schumer. Reid to the rescue again, delaying the vote. Mitch would have scheduled a vote to embarrass Obama. Sorry to break the news. The USA won this one.

Haha, no. The Civil War ends when one side is dead. Putin's involvement in hastening the end of the civil war would only involve sending Assad more ammunition and running interference in the UNSC.

The only real outcome of this, in the end, is ensuring Russia stays involved in Syria and the US stays out.

In the end that isn't the worst possible outcome that could be, but it exposes the US as an inept diplomat and toothless and it could have all been avoided if our idiotic president were more careful with his words.

Kinzinger has a Veterans' Home in LaSalle. Before his remap, he lived in Manteno, where there is another Veterans' Home, where my Dad ended up. His office in Ottawa does a great job for the Veterans and other local issues, even if he is a Repub. We're like that downstate. We trust Kinzinger and Durbin, both on Foreign relations.

Me?.....nah. I lead the way. Sua Sponte.

Maybe that's cuz of all those defense contracts Durbin is part of, only #2 Behind Johnny Quest.....sorry to break the news. All the Headlines across the globe are talking about How Obama has backed down. Backed off. Was looking for a political ploy to save face. Now he just needs to wash his face. Maybe it will help with that SourPuss he has been sportin lately.

Note.....the Clue should have been. Obama had no Cheshire grins. Wake up and smell the coffee. ;)

And here I though you'd be positive if you posted on me first. Give Peace a chance, Bro, but deal from strength, as Obama did by showing Putin some of his toys...

pure hackery, like calling Obama "schuck and jive" by Limbaugh...
it could have all been avoided if our idiotic president were more careful with his words.
this hackery is in every post of yours and has nothing to do with my OP
