'Gasland’ Director Confronted on NPR Show

You are going in circles, we already covered this, they are not disclosing all substances used:

You said they weren't disclosing ANY materials. You claim there's some fabled exemption.

You're losing your argument, live with it.

From your link, in the fine print:

In certain cases, a small percentage of constituents may be protected under existing agreements with suppliers and customers. In these situations, CAS numbers are not listed – but the constituent's listing as hazardous on the MSDS is, as well as other common uses when identified.

Further, I am getting my trade secrets argument from the industry itself. Have you watched Gasland (1 and 2)? They show the industry reps testifying in front of congress. Listen to what they say, it runs in opposition to some of what you are saying here.

No fracking is done in parrallel to new drilling within the same area. If you had watched Dr. Igraffea all the way through you would know that this has been documented in British Columbia.

Right, but not in the same well. I misunderstood your comment.

Ok, post a link.

All the links I've seen from the opposition have been from Libbos fear sites and letters to the editer.

Oh, so state regulations don't count all of a sudden? You claimed that gas wells are, "different", and I've proved you wrong. Don't hurt your back moving that goal post.
State regs do not take precedence over fed regs, and you haven't shown what impact these state regs have in regard to the current discussion, it is just another bit of crap you are throwing out to see if it sticks.

It is just pure diversion from the discussion.

You're just mad because you're starting to look really ignorant.

On the same well site. I made it clear throughout that I was describing PARALLEL drilled wells.

Since we know that casements leak and that fracking operations take place while parallel drilling is occurring, it doesn't take a scientist to understand that the fracking fluids and methane can and does enter ground water layers while this is happening.

This is a photograph of a frac job. Explain to me how drilling is going on, on the same pad, simultaneously with the frac job. Thanks in advance.

You just keep falling back to this semantic game. The Halliburton Loophole allowed them to be exempt from reporting ALL fracking fluid contents under the Clean Water fed regulations.

You just keep on avoiding the history, the facts......while making claims of my ignorance. I am not in the industry, I have only recently begun to understand the issues. I seem to know about the history of the federal regulations....as opposed to someone who claims to have a PhD in the field, who refuses to address the federal legislative history......and who calls me ignorant. I'm not ignoring, on the contrary.

Any links? I'm waiting. If you're so obviously more knowledgable than I am, surely you can back it up with something besides yap and letters to the editer.

Ah. like your semantic games that Halliburton has supposedly released ALL data on fluids used, this image is representative of ALL fracking operations.

You have already been told that the operations happen in tandem, I have no idea what you think you are doing now.

FFS, it is EDITOR, Dr. Apdst, and I have posted lots of links which you have only countered by discounting the source, not the content.

You're wrong. Time for you to prove yourself right. I've aready shown that drilling and fracing do not occur in tandem, on the same well location.

Again, if you're so indisputedly correct, it shouldn't be hard to post some evidence. Let's see it.

Um, the word is "fracking", you posted ONE image of ONE well and claim that this is how ALL are done. It is not, and for the x time, the lecture lays it out.....the lecture you refuse to view.

FFS, the lecture from Dr. Igraffea lays it out. How many times do I have to link to it?

An old ivy league fart? A civil and environmental engineer? That's your evidence?

Him? You have serious subject issues. No not HIM, the information relayed by HIM, Dr. Apdst.

If this is your best, to ignore the data provided......and to call me ignorant....then I think this is done.

Um, the word is "fracking",

Um, no, the word is, "fracing", It's short for "fracturing". There's no "K" in "fracturing". Actually, the most correct spelling would be "frac'ing".

Time to post your evidence proving me wrong.

Your turn.

I'm just not seeing any drilling rigs.

At the 1:17 mark.

And since you insist on pictures instead of accepting spoken word:

frackingdorset_2640208b.jpg

A large kick (1) was recently taken on a well being horizontally drilled for unconventional gas production in
the Montney formation. The kick was caused by a fracturing operation being conducted on an adjacent
horizontal well. Fracture sand was circulated from the drilling wellbore, which was 670m from the wellbore
undergoing the fracturing operation.
To date, the BC Oil and Gas Commission (Commission) is aware of 18 fracture communication incidents in
B.C. and one in Western Alberta as follows:

• Five incidents of fracture stimulation resulting in communication with an adjacent well
during drilling.
• Three incidents of drilling into a hydraulic fracture formed during a previous stimulation
on an adjacent well and containing high pressure fluids.
• Ten incidents of fracture stimulations communicating into adjacent producing wells.
• One incident of fracture stimulation communication into an adjacent leg on the same
well for a multi-lateral well.

To date, all kicks taken during drilling were successfully controlled through conventional drilling safety
measures (e.g. circulation with kill mud and/or reduction of the invading fracture stimulation pressure through
controlled venting). Large kicks resulted in volumes up to 80m3 of fluids produced to surface. Invading fluids
have included water, carbon dioxide, nitrogen, sand, drilling mud, other stimulation fluids and small amounts
of gas.
Fracture fluids introduced into producing wells result in suspended production, substantial remediation costs
and pose a potential safety hazard.
Incidents have occurred in horizontal wells with separation distances between well bores ranging from 50m
to 715m.

I'll go back to my original statement: it's impossible to drill and frac the same hole, as you're suggesting with that photograph.
I never said it was the same hole, you understood the discussion previously:

This really has reached a dead end, you ignore the documentation, you forget already covered ground where you corrected yourself, and you refuse to accept facts.

I'm done, you have proven you are immune to reason.

You posted the photo to prove that frac'ing and drilling occur in tandem. You're wrong. Ready to yell calf rope, yet? Because you're seriously embarrassing yourself.
