I do not know how many people fit in Marine one, maybe with the security detachment, flight crew and the 4 piece Obama family there is not enough room to have the dog fly there with them. And who cares, do you think all former presidents personally cared for their pets all of the times. They will have had au-pairs or dog walkers etc. to take care of their animals.

The president gets a salary just like congress does....or did you think he works for free?

Democrats when they come to the Left Coast and come to La La Land to pick up cash from the liberal elite, they always have Air Force One land at LAX screwing up thousands of travelers schedules and disrupting millions of people lives with closed roads, business losing millions of dollars because the roads are closed, etc. And if Obama is on the West Side and you live on the West Side you have to show ID to get to your house. But you don't have to show ID to vote.

Whereas Republicans being Cn'C always used military airfields when they came to L.A.

Nixon always used El Toro MCAS.
Ford, Reagan, both Bush's always used March AFB.
No commercial flights delayed, no streets closed, nobody lives interrupted.
And you never had to show ID to get home if a Republican was in town.

Same is true for Chicago.

When I lived there, every time Obama would come to visit, it seems like I would have to get through a security detail just to get to my own apartment.

The man has no regard for the regular folks. The entire city has to stop and go on lockdown so that he and his wife can have dinner at a friend's. Ridiculous.

I think it started with the Kennedy's and got worse with every Democratic president since. They think they're American royalty.

I guess that's part of the job for any president. President Bush flew out west to his ranch so often even the White House started calling it "The Western Whitehouse." I had no problem with it because he was the President and the job requires 24/7 access to the assests needed to operate the government. Nobody wants the President to be a hostage to 1600 Pennsyvsina Ave., not Bush, Clinton or any other President I don't think.

Obama's family vacation to Africa cost more than Obama's entire yearly salary and and expense allowances combined and doubled.
And it wasn't a business trip taking care of the official business of state.

With in six weeks of Obama entering the White House Obama realized that the job of POTUS was bigger than he was.
If there was any official state business to be taken care of in Africa, that's what Obama's incompetent State Department is for.

Michelle Obama's hotel bills running all over the world surpasses the President's salary.

Lets not forget Obama's daughters Malia and Natasha little vacations outside of America and the cost of staying at the most expensive hotels, meals, and their five car motorcades.

Yeah I live in a city that has had at or near double-digit unemployment since well before Obama was President and I didn't hear too many people outraged when Bush was in Texas so often and so long they came up with a "western White House" logo to disguise to the gullible that he was an absentee President so please spare me the feigned outrage and double-dog eye-rolls.

BTW, most of the "costs" of a Presidential vacation would not be saved by him not going because the same people would still be working somewhere else doing something else while he sat in the Oval Office.

One of Ronald Reagan's Secret Service agents wrote a book about when he was responsible for protecting Reagan when he was President. He said Reagan would go out of the way to make sure he wasn't an inconvenience to business, jamming up streets, etc.

When Reagan wanted to eat out at a restaurant in the DC area it was one car, climbing up fire escapes, etc. Same true when Reagan was staying at his ranch. One car to a restaurant in Santa Barbara, enter through the back door through the kitchen. Attending church, sneak in sneak out nobody knew he ever was there.

Unless the dog had his own plane, I don't see this as a big deal. I am more concerned about the 100K leash holder, and the extra plane used so M could depart 4 hours earlier than the pres during one of the earlier Marthas Vinyard visits.

Rubbish. The notion that Obama went to Africa and didn't meet with leaders is absurd. He's the first African American president of the US for crying out loud and many expected he would focus more on Africa rather than ignore it like he did during his first term. China, Russia, Brazil have all been heavily investing in Africa and if the US doesn't get it's act together and start investing over there as well it's gonna get left behind. He should have gone over sooner because now it just looks like a guilt trip because he waited so long.

I beg to differ. If the Obama's visit opens up new markets for private investment and businesses (capitalism) then it will more than have paid for itself.....

Do you think Nixon went to China because he liked chinese food? Hardly, he went there to open up trade with China for US businesses. Obama is just doing the same thing in Africa....representing US capitalism and trade.

You might want to rethink your blind partisanship because the only thing I can conclude from your remarks is that you're anti-capitalism and hate freedom.

Where were you when every President before Obama blew their more than their entire yearly salary and and expense allowances combined and doubled on any trip?

Not the first time this kind of partisan gossip-mongering has gone into a tizzy about Bo being given a separate plane for himself alone. Probably won't be the last. But it is as wrong today as it was in 2010 and 2011. And just as it was on all the previous incarnations, Snopes has firmly declared this rumor FALSE.
