It's so much fun to watch the non-racists rush to make excuses for racism.
That's the one back in the old days all children sang in nursery school and elementary school.
From what I'm reading on all of the liberal websites, I guess it's not politically correct so I doubt children sing it any longer.
The libs will probably want the syndication of "Baa Baa Black Sheep" to be pulled from television. Baa Baa Black Sheep (TV series) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'm still extremely confused what's wrong with being half white or half black ? Maybe a liberal will enlighten me.
The IRONY of your link is just astounding.
Here is the first line of that link:
So in essence, you pulled up an obscure TV show, that had an equally offensive name - as an example of a show libs would want to cancel, not knowing that the name of the show had been changed while syndicated - because you know - the name just might be offensive.Baa Baa Black Sheep (later syndicated as Black Sheep Squadron) is a television series that aired on NBC from 1976 until 1978.
Talk about a fail.

I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality. - MLK
I'm just wondering if it was the protestors who changed the lyrics (in which case, the song doesn't really make sense) or if the newspaper doesn't even know the title of a common nursery rhyme.
Were they chanting "bye bye black sheep" or were they singing "baa baa black sheep?" There is a significant difference.
In case anyone is wondering what the possible relevance could be, they may want to review the lyrics of the rhyme and consider how they could possibly be relevant.
One who makes himself a worm cannot complain when tread upon.
I'll admit I didn't go to the link because I read the book and have personally known Gregory Boyington through my father.
The reason it was syndicated under "Black Sheep Squadron" is because VMF-314 is Black Sheep squadron.
Today it's VMFA-314 because they fly the FA-18. (fighter-attack)
The original television series "Baa Baa Black Sheep" is from Col. Gregory (Pappy) Boyington's USMCR ret. RIP own autobiography which was titled "Baa Baa Black Sheep." In the book he describes how the VMF-314 ended up with the name Black Sheep. It had to do because Gregory Boyington was a black sheep with in the Marine Corps and when they formed VMF-314 they scrounged through the Corps picking up the other Marine pilots that no other squadron wanted.
Boyington was a strapper and he loved to fisticuff. He was also an alcoholic and chased the skirts. He was awarded the CMO and eventually not even the Corps could handle him and was forced to retire.

I have no idea what the big fuss is over being called a black sheep. Maybe some liberal will enlighten me.
It is sad in that the real life exploits of the squadron where truly remarkable, and Boyington bringing them together into a solid unit in little time and initially no aircraft is a feat that deserves recognition. There is no need to exaggerate, and yet you had to do so.
You honestly think that this country is more divided at this moment than it was DURING the Civil War?
I don't think that is what you meant but I suppose that just goes to show that the folks in your camp really do not listen to themselves.
Returning to topic, as an Arizona resident I can tell you from experience that racism and division are the status quo of local politics
Gee, I wonder why?A few years ago the SPLC labled anyone who opposed Obama Care as being racist.
Oh good, for a minute there I thought you were apologizing for the racists.Couldn't find any connection to the TEA Party movement with the three names mentioned.
Judy Burris on some websites claims to be some what liberal.
The protestors seem very focused on Obama's race and not his policies.>" Obama foes at one point sang, "Bye Bye Black Sheep," a derogatory reference to the president's skin color, while protesters like Deanne Bartram raised a sign saying, "Impeach the Half-White Muslim!"
Deanna Bartram, a 17-year-old University of Arizona student from Black Canyon City, lashed out at people who call her racist for not supporting Obama. She believes Obama supporters use the “race card” against her because they disagree with her political message.
“Obama is ruining American values. He is ruining the Constitution. He needs to go back to where he came from because obviously, he is a liar,” she said. “I am not racist. I am part Indian. Obama’s half Black, half White.”
“He’s 47 percent Negro,” shouted Ron Enderle, a 77-year-old Chandler resident who said that he and his son served as Marines and his grandson is currently serving in the Marines.
Judy Burris said that she blames Obama for racism in America reaching heights not seen since the 1960s Civil-Rights Era.
“We have gone back so many years,” she said. “He’s divided all the races. I hate him for that.” "<
It seems to have always had a negative connotation meaning "the other."BTW: When did "black sheep" become derogatory ? Probably since today. Those poor Marines at MCAS Miramar are going to be stuck on the base all weekend long removing the VMFA 314 squadron logo from their FA-18's and searching for a new squadron name. Pappy Boyington is probably turning over in his grave.
"..In the English language, black sheep is an idiom used to describe an odd or disreputable member of a group, especially within a family......The term has typically been given negative implications, implying waywardness. It derived from the atypical and unwanted presence of other black individuals in flocks of white sheep....
