GOP bill would defund schools with rules against playing with imaginary guns

And this is why we cant have nice things.

What's this "we" business. I have some nice things, maybe not many and maybe only nice to me. But then, what individuals value is up to the individual. Sorry that you feel you don't. Perhaps you should do what normal people do. Work, save and achieve to get what you value as a "nice thing" instead of waiting around for the government to steal it from someone else and then give it to you for no effort on your part.

1.) Its a saying not meant to be taken to seriously
2.) I do work
3.) I dont "steal"

Nothing quite like using a zero tolerance policy to show how much you dislike zero tolerance policies.
These children aren't being educated, their being indoctrinated. I'm glad my children were home-schooled.
I can only imagine the "truth" you imparted to your children...

But is was an opportunity to make a point.
To make a point that only embarasses you and your "side"

Well. Good for you.
Thanks.. I guess.

I didn't say you did. I said you get the government to do it for you. You are the one who said you were a socialist, not me.
So socialism means government is theft?

Well, if it's any of your business, my children were home-schooled through the 8th grade and went to public high school.

On the realistic side, schools are funded by state and local taxes, not federal taxes

In 1990-91, the federal share of total K-12 spending in the United States was just 5.7 percent. Since that time, it has risen by more than one-third and is now 8.3 percent of the total.

I think the total spending is about 550 billion on k-12 (that's fed, state and local and some 'other funding')

And just so you know, TX was subsidized by the feds to the tune of 10.7% or so of their 2009 educational outlays for k-12. (5 bilion out of 47 billion)

In 1994 the Republicans ran on the Contract with America and part of that was federal funding for mandates. Much of that increase in funding was due to what formally was unfunded mandates. Do you realize that when you talk about Federal funding you are talking about your tax dollars going to other states? Do you think you should be funding my education expenses, healthcare, or any other personal responsibility issues.

My response to your post was in an effort to correct/update the information you had posted. No opinions offered.

I didn't ask, I merely stated I can only imagine.
