Or maybe, they could have just left the guy alone, since he wasn't doing anything but mouthing off and filming them, neither of which is ground for arresting him.
I would never advise a cop to uncuff someone they just arested. That's ****ing stupid. The aresting cop and the department are responsable for any and everything that happens to an arested person. That and cops don't know who this guy is and have to assume the worst.

The owner was the only one doing anything wrong. Its his own fault his dog is dead.

I only feel sorry for the dog.

Why do they have to assume the worst, when he already showed that he was willing to comply and go peacefully with them? He wasn't being belligerent, he didn't struggle, and when asked to, he walked over to them, immediately turned around and put his hands behind his back, and let them cuff him.

As far as I can tell the arrestee did nothing illegal. As I've said before he might have been acting like a tool for talking back to the officer and not lowering the radio but neither of those are arrestable offenses. Filming the scene is without doubt Constitutionally protected.

No, sorry, that's no excuse. If there was any evidence to support the fact that the guy was dangerous, I could agree with that, but there was none. That's just paranoia.

from what I read, the cops apparently told the man to put the dog in the car because he was going to be arrested. The fact the dumb-ass left his windows down, knowing full well that he wasn't going to be around, just speaks to his utter worthlessness

That is more duediligence than most people would try under similar circumstances. And I honestly don't understand what you expect them to do at that point.

There were many better ways they could have handled that situation.
Hindsight is often 20/20 and you're not at an active crime scene, dealing with a man intent on causing a disturbance, and dealing with an aggressive animal, all within a crowd of people

The guy they were arresting was complying fully, they could have just taken the cuffs off for a second, and told him to go put the dog back in the car and roll the windows up this time.
lol. He had that chance when he originally put his dog in the car. His ineptitude is his own fault. No one else needs to be put in danger because retarded dog owners

Or they could have just left it there to bark.
And attack some random person? Great idea, Sherlock, nothing says common sense like letting an aggressive, large dog, who you have no idea of the temperament of, roam freely around a highly charged and chaotic environment.

Or maybe, they could have just left the guy alone, since he wasn't doing anything but mouthing off and filming them, neither of which is ground for arresting him.
again, the reasons for the arrest are completely irrelevant to the fact that the guy did not do his duty as a dog owner and was completely negligent

well, it has been reporting that he was blasting his music at an active crime scene and refused to turn it down when asked (this according to a neighbor). And while I likely hate cops mopre than you, I can recognize why having some asshole specifically causing such a commotion at an active crime scene could be defined as "disorderly conduct", "interfering with an investigation", or "disturbing the peace"

I'm really lost on why anyone would ignore these rather glaring elements to defend this ****-dick (the dog is just as capable of attacking a child or elderly person), but here we are

Paranoid cops live longer. I don't like it but I understand it.

    That's survival.

Let him go back to his car and your "evidence" could be him firing on you. I'm not risking my neck for someone's dog.
