Update: U.S. training Syrian rebels; White House 'stepped up assistance'

That's not what you claimed a minute ago.
You claimed they confirmed that they sent US forces over there months ago to train rebels and the White House confirmed this, and i said no they confirmed that troops were over there to train Jordanian military incase the war spilled over into Jordan, they confirmed training Jordanian military not Syrian Rebels.

You clearly accused the White House of lying about it.

You have no evidence of such.
Uhhh yes...
Whit House said they were only training the Jordanian military but infact they were training Syrian rebels..

Citation? Or are you just making this up, like you did about the US supplying ZSU-23s.

Good evening V1.1 - hope all is well

This administration really is a mess and so soon into the second term - the next three plus years will be torturous. Add to that what the Fed has done in the past half year and people are going to think America has lost it.

Good evening, CJ. :2wave:

Washington, DC may be in the process of losing it, but the American people for the most part seem to be hanging in there, going on with their lives, wondering what's next! Sort of like...."stay tuned for further developments"....

Good evening, gimpy Lady P - hope Texas is treating you well - enjoying the "dry" heat??

The American people got what most of them voted for - maybe more should have voted and/or thought about it more before they voted - elections have consequences.

So do I, but I don't hold much more hope...

Good evening all.:2wave:
There's still room for hope.

TDS is working without evidence here.

Hey! This article proves that the US has been supplying Soviet anti-aircraft guns to the rebels!

hahaha

Good evening 2m. I'm rapidly losing hope when looking at how divided the country is currently...

" The United States military has secretly sent a task force of more than 150 planners and other specialists to Jordan to help the armed forces there handle a flood of Syrian refugees, prepare for the possibility that Syria will lose control of its chemical weapons and be positioned should the turmoil in Syria expand into a wider conflict."

That's a separate issue, also confirmed by the White House. Let's not conflate them.

Dont see how its a seperate issue... When it was confirmed that we started training rebels one month later...

1, The US is training rebels in Jordan. We knew this months ago.
2. The US is training Jordanians.

Separate events. One was not used to justify the other. Just because the US confirms training the Jordanian military does not mean that was used as a lie to cover something else. If I say I went to the store and I say that I went to the bike repair shop - does that mean I've lied about either? No. You're just conflating the two, as if they cannot both be true.

Separate issues.

Do you have a citation claiming that the US denied training rebels starting in, at least, March? Does anyone, besides you, claim that the US denied this?

I don't think any of us know what our government is up to. They only tell us what they want us to know, and they certainly aren't above lying to us either.

No such training was confirmed on month later. TDS's narrative is counterfactual. The NYT article supports ecofarm's point.

Fine, but there still needs to be some evidence, SOMETHING, one source - besides DemSocialist - that claims the US denied training rebels in Jordan. Otherwise, we're just taking his word based on his confusion regarding a separate issue, and that would be ridiculous.

France didn't deny it.
Britain didn't deny it.
The US didn't deny it.

DemSoc's claim is - in fact - BS based on conflating two separate events.

And this after his MOST ABSURD claim that the US was supplying ZSU-23s (ancient Soviet gear available from every tin-pot dictatorship in the world including Assad).

I wish one could read...

No where does it mention anything about training rebels.

No. I do have a source that says that US forces were sent to Jordan to only train Jordanian military in October, and then i have another source that says that in November our forces there were sent to train Syrian rebels as well, and that the White House does not want to comment on.

Evening, CJ! It has been in the mid- 90s and very dry since I got here! Too warm for someone who is visiting from the land of ice and snow, but I am getting used to it! :lamo: It's done nothing but rain in NE Ohio since I left at the end of May, according to calls I have received!

I am walking unassisted now. Not fast, mind you, but the surgeon said when I could throw the walker at him, he might consider letting me get on a plane and return home! Yay! Maybe in a week or so, but we'll see.

Daughter expecting lots of company tonight, to view the big Supermoon that's expected. Margaritas are being served. Yum! Dogs have been acting skittish all day, which I find interesting. Won't let me out of their sight, and they whine if I go out without letting them out too, and then they lay at my feet????? Is your ladydog acting different today?

Oh, I'm not sticking up for his comments either. That's why I said I don't think ANY of us know. ;)

Good evening, Jack! :2wave:

I saw your post that you have your grandchildren visiting. All well with you and yours?

None of us know everything, we never will. That doesn't mean we can just make things up and expect such to constitute an argument.
