Paula Deen Fired[W:223]

Re: Paula Deen Fired

Nor should she have any shame, guilt for her actions. She didn't do anything out of the ordinary. Whites will use whatever word they want to use whether or not it is accepted by you fruitcake liberals. If fact, I am going to settle down with a copy of Huckleberry Finn right now and enjoy it to no end!

A typical sycophant reply.

Uh wait...you are calling me a fruitcake liberal. Shame on you. You must be Navy Pride's new spouse.

Re: Paula Deen Fired

After reading the most recent addition to the list of companies fleeing from Paula Deen, including her own publisher, I bet if she didn't use the N word before, she is using it now

With these companies dropping her given the swell of support I am thinking they know something we don't. I think she has more skeletons.

What decides your vote?

The individual and what he stands for. If no individual matches me to a comfortable degree, or we agree on at least half the issues, which is the majority of the time, I vote against whom I don't want to see in office.

When I vote for judges. I don't care what party is which, I vote the incumbent out. Of the remaining selection I vote 3rd party first, then proceed from there.

My voting record for POTUS has been

Bush (Bright eyed naive virgin voter)
Dole (Against Slick Willy)
W (Against Gore, but thinking back wish I'd have voted for Nader)
W (Definitely against Kerry)
Obama (I voted Alan Keyes in 04 Senate but in 08 voting against McCain)
Johnson (First candidate I've actually come close sharing a vision but don't get me wrong we disagree on plenty)

For the other federal and state elections before Obama, I'll admit GOP straight ticket. Since Obama, 3rd party.

I don't care what color people are, I care about shared values. I care about shared vision. I don't make distinction of race I make distinction based on actions. Based on integrity. Based on competence.

I don't vote for candidates based on what they will give me. I vote for candidates that will see to it that the government doesn't get in the way of me helping myself.

So, you vote based on political ideology and the character of the person you're voting for. (or against)

Minorities, on the other hand, vote for handouts because they are greedy and lazy and selfish. But you don't make distinction of race :lamo

That characterize your views?

The mistake you are making is in the assignment of "the reason". I would agree that intellectually lazy "right wing" types tend to characterize minorities and their voting patterns in pretty much the same way that you just did. On the flip side, the more honest assessment would be that the reason they vote for handouts is because handouts are offered to them.

Really... if you have one guy offering you a free phone upgrade and another guy offering to take the phone you already have away from you, who you gonna vote for?

double post.

I could see how you would come to that mistaken conclusion. Taking my quote out of the context and spirit it was presented and twist an entirely separate question with separate context and spirit so as to fit into a gotcha game sort of mischaracterization that you intended...

Absolutely...

Hate on Paula Deen all you want but I will NEVER give up my Paula Deen pots and pans my wife made me buy her. They are freaking awesome.....especially the one I fry chicken in :bringit

Actually, I don't hate her at all. I just think she's from a different generation where certain language was acceptable and sometimes old people have a hard time adapting to change.

The empirical facts, something that tea partiers eschew as vampires eschew holy water.

But if you don't know what "working people" means in a political context, I can't help you. Too much remedial catch-up required.

oh!...you're talking about those who work to beat the system and make a living sitting on their butt with a hand out, not those who are gainfully employeed...gotcha!..caryy on.

Re: Paula Deen Fired

That is easy, right here:

***********************************************************************************************

Um, the posts where you stated a two faced double standard are within this thread, the first part of the double standard is the above quote where you complained that "PC strikes again" because she had been fired for her racist comments, those who complained, we who are "pc", WERE being intolerant of her racist comments.

So again, which is it? *Should we be intolerant of all racists, regardless of color or *are we going to get labeled as being "pc" when we complain about Deen's racism?

Are you capable of acknowledging your contradictory, two faced, double standard contained within this thread.....or are you going to continue to deny it, ignore it, play dumb........?
Here-in lies the dilemma which has been tormenting your poor liberal soul_

In reality, there is absolutely nothing contradictory about my comment; only your interpretation of it_

You asked- *"Should we be "intolerant of all racists, regardless of color""?

I reply- Yes, we should be intolerant of all racists, regardless of color__Invariably!

You asked- *"are we going to get labeled as being "pc" when we complain about Deen's racism"?

I reply- Those who are critical of one form of racism while ignoring another will indeed be labeled "PC"!

I wasn't complaining about people's intolerance of Deen's racism, only about those who single it out!

This will continue to be my policy until all state sanctioned and socially accepted racism ceases to exist_

Re: Paula Deen Fired

This thread is about Deen.
True, but I was simply responding to another post which had raised the issue of "black racism"_

Members do this all the time in case you hadn't noticed, although I'm pretty sure you probably have_

I heard a report that Paula Deen actually voted for and was a big fan of Barack Obama_

I personally don't believe she's a racist nor that she has been at least for a very long time_

Hating someone because of the color of their skin is something a moron might be guilty of_

Miss Paula doesn't strike me as being all that stupid, other than political affiliation of course_

Yes, you were demonstrating your intolerance of *some* racists and yes, I *have* noticed that some posters are intolerant of *some* racists, but not *all* racists

Usually while complaining about how others are only intolerant of *some* racists, when they should be intolerant of *all* racists

Do you see what I did there?

She did manage to start several successful businesses, so she certainly isn't stupid. I'd be willing to give her the benefit of the doubt about being a racist too.

Re: Paula Deen Fired

She wasn't fired. Her contract wasn't renewed. Big difference.

Re: Paula Deen Fired

Potato, poTAHto. Either way, she no longer works for Food Network.

Well there is a difference. What if her shows weren't bringing in what the network wanted and this was just the icing on the cake. Realistically speaking she could have lost her job either way.

Actually, my Husband said that very thing - that her style of cooking was on the way out, and with her antics, they'd been looking for a reason to get rid of her for years, and this was the perfect opportunity.

I mean i don't doubt that it was a factor, but i don't think that something that she said that long ago was the ONLY reason.

There is so much more to this lawsuit than the fact that she used the N word. So much more.
