The shear ignorance with which she used it in a professional environment is the key to this particular controversy. But, that isn't the real reason she got fired. Her show is a dissonance within contemporary cooking shows; where 99% of shows are either cooking gourmet dishes, cheap recipes, or diet food; Paula Deen cooks southern home dishes, without any mind towards the culinary arts, frugality, or healthy nutrition. Paula Deen is a dinosaur in the industry; the food channel has had their pen on the pink slip, just waiting for a scandal like this.

Her cooking and her recipes reflect back on a iconic part of American culture which is directly attributed to the development of " Soul Food".

There are plenty of douchebags with cooking shows cooking Foie Gras and Tirimisu and having someone who cooked Fried Chicken or who made BlackBerry Cobbler like IT'S SUPPOSE TO BE MADE was a nice change from all of the pretentious BS.

American Southern Cooking represents some of the best tasting food in the world with roots that span generations.

It was the appeal all along.

Portion is controlled by the diner, not the cook.

Lol. I made a bet with a white co-worker who i work with to watch how many conservatives come to Paula Dean defense as this thread continues. I made me a cool 20 bucks... You guys never disappoint .

I actually like Paula Dean (at least her food ), but she is a recognize celebrity who represents a network. What do you think would happen.

Let place it in a environment where a black celebrity was fired. Remember Isaiah Washington when he starred in Greys Anatomy? He was one of the biggest stars on that show and a damn good actor. When he called his co-star a faggot, he lost his job on the show and basically haven't had a good role in years. But that is the consequences when you do stupid things.

Just look through the threads. You will see right wingers gleefully cheer the homo got fired or the pregnant woman got fired. Then in this thread they have the opposite opinion.

    That is duplicitous.

So the right is happy when women and gays lose their job, but so upset about Dean.
Give an example of joy about firings.

So because I think that teachers at Catholic schools who commit public violations of their codes of conduct but are repentant should be restored and because I think Paula Deen should be forgiven but you don't, that means I'm showing duplicity? Wow.

I didn't say you as an individual was duplicitous.

I also said I would forgive Dean.

The threads speak for themselves. There was joy over the firing of the teacher and outrage over Dean.

I don't blame Food Network. I blame the over the top politically correct culture that demands that people be terminated for things not work related and didn't cause anyone harm. I hope to see her back on TV soon.

I'm not defending her, if she violated the terms of her contract then she should face the Consequences.

    I think youv'e misunderstood us.

We believe people should take responsibillity for their actions and aren't under a corrupt influence that would allow us to ignore the vast double standards that lead to people like you making ignorant assumptions.

Apply the standards evenly, because no matter what color your skin is that word has racist connotations.

    Sorry, I misread your post.

I don't like double standards either. I wasn't following the story about the fired teacher but I do recall a while back an unmarried teacher was dismissed from her job for being preggers. How on earth can they look at themselves in the mirror and fire an expectant mom who needs the income and health insurance? If its that big of a problem, reassign her to an office job. Where is the love?

No love only the desire to control.
