Rand Paul: Marijuana users lose IQ points and lack motivation

Perhaps if you didn't narrow your search to just cancer, you would find more: Marijuana: Factsheets: Tobacco and Marijuana
I just gave you some links, not a medical opinion. If you followed the first one you'd see there seems to be some debate, some links say weed is better, some say it isn't.

I'm not a doctor, I just know that weed is relatively safe and it makes me happy, so I smoke it. That's really the only justification I'm going to give; personal happiness. Is it sad that I'm happier stoned than sober? Maybe. Is it a problem? Doesn't seem to be, things are going just fine.

As for the medical thing, from what I've read no one seems to suggest that eating it has any negative health effects. The smoking issues are from smoke. Basil would also probably give you cancer if you smoke it, that doesn't mean it should be illegal.

Edit: Did you actually read that link you posted? It seems to be very carefully worded. The main "facts" it states are
Compared to tobacco cigarette smokers, people who smoke marijuana typically:

Inhale more smoke (two-thirds larger puff volume);
Inhale the smoke deeper into the lungs (one-third greater depth of inhalation);
Hold the smoke in the lungs for longer time periods (up to four times longer).
This results in the lungs being exposed to:

Greater amounts of carbon monoxide and other smoke irritants;
Greater retention of tar in the respiratory tract.

- Inhale more smoke? Yes, but I know that already, the question is about the smoke itself.
- "greater amounts of carbon monoxide and other smoke irritants" sounds spurious to me, given all the additives that go into cigarettes one would think it would have more irritants. One would expect such a statement to be backed up with some numbers.
- greater "retention" is irrelevant, because it doesn't address the question of how much tar there is to begin with.

It doesn't actually seem to be claiming any hard medical facts, just general common sense about the difference between taking small puffs and big ones.

Yes, I did read it and I merely was responding to the idea that I said health risks, you just said cancer. Regardless, as long as I don't have to breathe it, I don't care what you do with it.

He should look to the careers of (e.g.) everyone who'e ever made money in Silicon Valley. Pretty much everyone out here smokes pot, and we have by far the strongest economy in the country. Clearly Mr. Paul has managed the remarkable feat of sticking his head entirely up his own arse.

Maybe he was speaking for the families that no longer have sons, daughters, fathers, or husbands because some mello person snuffed their lives out while high in his car or piece of machinery.

I find it fascinating at all the people that use it that find nothing wrong with it.

Alcoholics say the same crap.

Yes, but alcohol is legal. So why shouldn't marijuanna? Unless you are arguing for the government to impose pohibition on alcohol again?

Given your signature from Rand Paul, I find it ironic that he is willing to sacrifice the freedom to use pot for the security of the government making it illegal to use it.

I find it odd how many liberals want to eliminate or control guns but have no issues with drugs destroying peoples lives.

LOL, the same excuse you use for drugs, those on the left use for guns. I don't want any of those banned. It's funny how those on the right are for government control of what THEY feel hurts families or people and then whine about gun control.

Those that wants drugs banned are no better than those that want gun control.

Yes, it certainly debilitated Carl Sagan.

Some people have more "in reserve" than others. Note that nobody has said marijuana users are all idiots. Reading comprehension is a skill that takes some people's full faculties.

You think that a comment about lowered IQ and lack of motivation was really about (the nonexistent problem of) pot-related DUI deaths? Are you sure you're not high yourself right now?

I find it fascinating at all the people that use it that find nothing wrong with it.

Alcoholics say the same crap.

Ok Carrie Nation. Tell you what, when you've learned how not to conflate DUI's with simple use, drop me a line.

Yeah right, we all need less productive people with workforce with the highest percentage since the depression without work.

Simple use.....LOL, that is what I like about hair samples, we never have to hire dopers

Are you under the impression that everyone who smokes pot immediately starts operating a forklift?

Yeah right, we all need less productive people with workforce with the highest percentage since the depression without work.

Well if all you have is stereotypes I don't blame you from running away from my argument. Care to show with evidence how all pot smokers are unproductive.

It's pretty hypocritical of you complaining about those that want gun control when your argument for making pot illegal is just as bad and just as ignorant.

I don't know ANYONE whose life was ruined by a gun, I know dozens of people that would have been better off without illegal drug use.

I see you like government control afterall.

I see you do as well, support drivers license requirements, speed limits? Laws against murder? We can travel that stupid road of yours all you want? LMAO!

Are you under the impression that everyone who smokes pot immediately starts operating a forklift?

No, but many operate a car while high, we might as well legalzie texting while driving

I don't know ANYONE whose life was ruined by a gun, I know dozens of people that would have been better off without illegal drug use.

Again, you like government control, we get it. Just don't complain about those that want gun control.

BTW, I do know people's lives that have been ruined with gun violence. The difference is I don't want guns banned. You want drugs banned and want government control. You are definitely hypocritical on this.

No, but many operate a car while high, we might as well legalzie texting while driving

And many drive drunk, should we make alcohol illegal to or should we do the responsible thing and just hold people accountable for their actions instead of banning ****.

its not that I want it, they already are. SO you are saying you are against all government controls?

marijuana is not banned in all states, just like alcohol is not legal everywhere

In the cases of control where government has banned something instead of holding the individual responsible, yes I am for that going away.

marijuana is not banned in all states, just like alcohol is not legal everywhere

Yet, here you are supporting government control over it. Seems you and those that want gun control have something in common. You both want government to intervene to ban it.

No, but many operate a car while high, we might as well legalzie texting while driving

Do you not understand the distinction between legalizing use and legalizing use while driving a car? Also, notable fact: guns cause about 30,000 deaths a year, whereas pot causes basically none.
