Following reports that the National Security Agency (NSA) has been collecting phone records, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) on Friday introduced legislation would require federal law enforcement officials to obtain a warrant, with probable cause, before searching Americans’ phone records.






In a statement, Paul called the NSA’s secret seizure of phone records “an outrageous abuse of power and a violation of the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution.”

“I have long argued that Congress must do more to restrict the Executive's expansive law enforcement powers to seize private records of law-abiding Americans that are held by a third-party," Paul said.
“The collection of citizen’s phone records is a violation of the natural rights of every man and woman in the United States, and a clear violation of the explicit language of the highest law of the land,” Paul writes in the legislation.

For the second time and probably the only other time i can agree with Rand Paul. This is a clear abuse of power and Obama has made a huge flip flop and has shown his true spirit with this, nothing really has changed and has carried out yet another Bush administration policy!


 
All they're going to get is a bunch of women gossiping, a few phone sex sessions, and some "oops, wrong number" calls.

Maybe it is... but I'm so tired of being outraged at this government I fear I have outrage fatigue syndrome... and just don't feel it this time. I've accepted the government for what it is, so that I will no longer be surprised by it or the apologetics of its sheep.

The question I have, Why is Rand Paul's statement being posted here when you could have chosen any number of far right conservatives to agree with in this instance.

Because a lot actually passed it.. And because i went to the Hill and the Hill posted an article on it and i agreed with it and i decided to post it here.

I completely understand your sentiment.

But I'm curious if you find the government's actions in this regard to comply with constitutional limitations? Have you an opinion about Section 215 of the PA?
