Darn, we have two houses in our congress. Now I have to write two letters stating that this veto should not be overridden but the law should reflect, Texas first, Right to work/none Obama voting states second, then foreign. If not available from any source other than unionized Obamanites, then the state doesn't need it and shouldn't buy it.

The Federal gov't does this. Only they force us to buy American made. The result? A normal, fiberglass handled sledge hammer that would cost us $30 at Wal-Mart costs us $55 at "Serv-Mart". Serv-Mart is the base store we have to patronize when using gov't funds to purchase low end items such as sledge hammers, shovels, trash cans, and various other items. Yeah, great policy. Taxpayers spend an extra $25 on a sledge hammer we're going to wear out/break in 4 months just because we're being made to buy 'Murican. I don't care who makes it, when it's $25 more, screw 'em.

Ok, so some of the parts come from here also. I was only pointing out that assembly in the US does not equal "built" in the US. You show 3 models out of how many the company "makes" here? How much in import duties do they get to subtract and not pay on all their models vs how much we get from what production they do do in the US? If Toyota built a useful model that was also a high quality model vs a domestic brand, then I would say let the state buy them.

Frankly, for my personal use, I don't find any Toyota models particularly useful nor of "higher" quality in the models they actually build that I might have a use for. But then again, in many cases, no one does, so I have taken to buying much older models and modifying them for my uses.

BTW, where did you get that I "hate" someone or something based upon what you quoted?

This bill at least specifies the preference is only when the two items are of equal cost and quality.

In other words, Perry is actually protecting American industry by vetoing the bill, since overpriced and poor quality has become typical of American Manufacturing for the last 40+ years. If the state were to buy affordable or high quality, then they would hardly ever buy American.

True. I understand that the bill is redundant though so it looks to be pointless legislation. I was simply pointing out the effect the bill would have if it were implemented in the way some on this thread wanted.
