Re: Obama’s poll numbers hold up despite the storm of scandal

"According to that poll, more than 70 percent called the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups unacceptable, but 55 percent said they believed the IRS acted on its own, and more than 60 percent said they believed the president was unaware of the practice while it was going on."

Soooooo ... they can answer they still like the Smiling Socialist in a poll question ... and 55% think the IRS was doing it on their own and 60% of 'em think Obama was unaware of it.

I ask this because anyone who was aware of that long national nightmare could not possible say what you jsut said unless it is to forward some particular agenda.

I wasn't politically active then... it was about another 8 years until I was old enough to become a card carrying member of the Commi Lib crowd.

Having been around older folks, having done a lot of travel from a young age, and being someone who reads a lot... what Nixon did (coverup) is nothing compared to the crap Obama has on his plate.

    Benghazi.
    Fast & Furious.
    IRS/Gestapo
    Press Freedom?

Nixon didn't orchestrate the Watergate break-in... he covered it up.

What does an IRS Chief do visiting the WH 157 times in two years during the runup to 2012? That's 156 times more than Bush43 had seen the IRS Chief in 4-years.

Can you say Culture of Corruption? Of course you can't.

the comparison is utterly ridiculous. Nixon presided over an administration which attempted to use illegal break-ins to subvert the very election process of the American people. They then compounded that by attempting to cover it up and recruited the FBI, the IRS and other departments and agencies to engage in a criminal conspiracy which went all the way into the oval office to Nixon himself. That dwarfs anything we have seen so far from Obama.

Keep in mind Nixon went from a landslide President to the only President who resigned in disgrace because he wanted to avoid a sure impeachment and conviction in the span of just two short years.

Re: Obama’s poll numbers hold up despite the storm of scandal

I think Obama ratings going up reflects the fact most Americans can see the Republican whackiness for what it is. The Repubs are playing to a smaller and smaller base and alienating everyone else. The only thing where there was any wrongdoing was the IRS and it was so far downstream there is not way the pres is criminally liable and minimally politically responsible. The calls by the RWers for impeachment, groundless allegations and neverending rageathon just makes them look like the mayors of sillyville insteal of American politicans. I mean, it is seriously crazy to talk about the chief of the IRS coming to the White House too many times and trying to say that implies the pres knew about targeting the RW groups and he was coming to he WH for fist bumps and giggles. Yep, Sillyville. Normal people can see through this stuff.
    God Bless the Marine Corps.
