Nearly 4 in 10 Americans have felt the pain of automatic spending cuts, according to a poll released Friday by ABC News and The Washington Post. Most Americans across the political spectrum disapprove of the cuts. Fifty-nine percent of Democrats, 54 percent of Republicans and 58 percent of independents oppose sequestration.
Cuts seem to be having more of an impact than in months past. A CBS News poll in early May found that only 27 percent of Americans were impacted by the cuts. AMarch ABC/Post poll found that cuts had only impacted 25 percent of respondents.

Remember "it wasnt the bad". So much for that BS talking point.

Polls are complete rubbish. I get calls from pollsters and my answers are colored by my attitude at that moment, not by reality.

Call me and I'll be happy to say that I don't have the vaguest notion how sequestration is affecting me. Is it affecting you? Is it affecting anybody here today?

Now the administration is now boasting that the debt is shrinking (in growth, not the actual debt). So apparently it's a good thing, not a bad thing.

Since you quote HuffPo, how about Fox to even things out.

How are the 4 in 10 Americans being affected?

Oh yeah, the sequester is still going on. Funny how that republican hissy fit over raising taxes on the rich has been burried under a pile of other ****.

Seems like bridge repair affected a few!

Me, the FAA sequester has an impact even though air traffic control got its funding back.

I thought the stimulus should have fixed that bridge but instad it's the sequester that didn't fix it.

There must be a way to make Bush (or Clinton) responsible for this. I mean Obama has only ben president for a few months now, right?

No one is playig the blame game. Hell if you wanna play that game it is literally everyone in Washington's fault.

If there is no blame game, may I ask what this thread is about? I must have misunderstood the topic.;)

I thought 10 in 10 Americans were affected. I don't get how 6 in 10 escaped unscathed.

My guess is that 98% of the people who were polled have no idea what the word, "sequestration", even means.

As always, Repubs have cherry-picked who goes back to work. Such as not affecting them flying home. Nice day without pay today. Folks need to remember who is filibustering this Nation down the drain.

It was Obama's sequestration. The sequestration came from the Obama White House. Obama quickly with in hours after Congress passed the sequestration signed it in to law and said he would veto any attempt of killing the sequestration.

Obama used America's national security as a pawn and the Republicans called his bluff. Obama became America's biggest national security threat.

4 in 10 are impacted by it, so 6 in 10 are not impacted by it. That's a good thing.

I noticed that the IRS payment stubb is not perforated. I have to cut it with scissors, or a knife, or a saw. Sequestration 'splains that inconvenience. All the perforators have been idled. Sad.

Morning, maam. Frost, eh? Cool here too. Lower 40's. I worried about planting my broccoli later than normal, but as it turns out, it could be fine.

I get calls from pollsters and my answers are colored by my attitude at that moment, not by reality.

Which is why they interview a large enough number of people to get a statistically accurate sample rather than just rely on a few people who may be biased.

And if a pollster decides that your interview was somehow biased they'll toss it out and replace it with an non-biased interview.

How are the 4 in 10 Americans being affected?

In surveys, it is generally up to whoever is being interviewed to determine for themselves using whatever criteria that interviewed person determines for themselves.

Though there could be follow-up questions in which the interviewer asks for specific ways in which they are being affected. It just depends on the individual survey and how it's worded.

Except Obama proposed sequestration because Tea Partiers in the House refused to compromise on increased tax income, even those by closing loopholes.

And the GOP-controlled House voted to pass the sequestration plan as a law even though Obama proposed it.

And the Tea Partiers favor reduced government spending, which is what is being done with sequestration. So when will the Tea Partiers give Obama the credit for reducing government spending?

I think I have the game plan figured out. All that I need to do is plant peas...that will guarantee that the weather will turn hot immediately, they will be courageously honorable and die, and the rest of the garden can start growing. I will then wait till August to replant the brave peas.. Sound about right?

It does. I have no doubt that in a week or so it'll get hot, the broccoli will bolt in spite of my best efforts, and the rest of the garden will actually start to grow. I think you're on to something here.
