Senate investigators accuse Apple of wiring together a complicated system to shield billions of dollars in international profits from both U.S. and foreign tax collectors.

A report released ahead of Apple CEO Tim Cook’s inaugural Capitol Hill appearance Tuesday alleges the tech giant took advantage of numerous U.S. tax loopholes and avoided U.S. taxes on $44 billion in offshore, taxable income between 2009 and 2012 — a characterization Apple flatly rejects.

The bipartisan Senate probe also charges for the first time that Apple’s long established foreign entities, based in Ireland, don’t actually have tax-resident status there or anywhere else. The company conducts most of its international business in the European country to take advantage of lower tax rates, according to the congressional report.

Yup.. 44 billion bucks!
 Now this activity isnt "illegal" i certainly believe that it should be.

Yes. Since the government has the power to tax then yes.

That has nothing to do with me complying with their desire to have access to my money. Usually when someone is trying to take something from me without my consent I will do everything in my power to resist. The government is no different. I don't care if the government doesn't like people putting money in off shore accounts. I just don't. They have the power to tax and I have the power to make it hard on them by hiding what is mine.

So I noticed you stopped at three paragraphs. Is that because the 4th noted it was legal.

Uhhh well i said in the OP "Now this activity isnt "illegal" i certainly believe that it should be."

Why should the US be entitled to income tax revenue from sales not in the United States of products not made in the United States? Maybe North Korea should make a claim and see how that goes?

That's great news. The more money that they hide and prevent the government from stealing, the better. The governments just gonna waste it on some stupid bull**** anyways, Apple will do a much better job of spending it.

Yea **** that! Dont forget that deficit and all the stuff it pays for

$44 Million!!!!!!!! That's bucketloads. I know Apple has more cash on hand than the current US Government. The future for this company post-Steve Jobs, is looking really crappy. Stock is in the toilet, no "insanely great" product announcements for a couple of years, same old idevices only a little better and faster, not cheaper of course! Is Apple's lovefest with the counterculture types over?

Steve Jobs was an amazing marketer, and an amazing ideas man, the company is not.

Billion. With a B!!!

Why should it be illegal? Does the government have a right to our money?

Without the US market Steve jobs would be steve jobless. This is why they should be paying to help upkeep the place they sell so much stuff.

Without people like Jobs the market as you know it would not exist. See how the wheel goes round?

Steve jobs marketing is not new or revolutionary. It is the same marketing scheme used by abercrombie or things like luxury car companies. Make a brand name, overcharge for your products, and idiots will pay more for less in an effort to be seen as elite. Everything apple has innovated has been done better and cheaper by others.

You mean the chinese manufacturing market. Sorry, but this is a load of crap. they did not put crapples on the desks of every american workers or in most homes in the US back in the 90's and 2000's. That is due to Apple's crappy marketing and Steves elitist brand name mentality for his company. Apple is actually losing market share right now because they refuse to bring their product to lower price markets which is why things like droid will end up owning them in the future just like in the PC market. So before you go telling us how the US needs Apple they do not. Apple needs the US market because without it they would not have a place to sell big phone and pad numbers because other countries do not have the disposable income or brand name BS market the US has.

It doesn't "pay" for anything, they just charge the credit card. But what we get for this credit is pointless bull**** that should be abolished.

Why should it be illegal? Does the government have a right to our money?
Do you think the government should protect your rights for free?

Well, I guess you W2 folks will just have to kick in a little more. Maybe Apple can stash money around the world but we know EXACTLY where YOU live.

You're probably right the market might have been a lot more innovative and competitive without people like Jobs monopolizing the market and suing all his competitors. He even tried to sue the vendors who sold apples (fruit) for trademark infringement for crying out loud. lol

If they can, yes.
Nothing is free, especially the government. So if you want it's protection you have to pay for it. So in answer to your question, yes, the government has a right to your money in exchange for it's protection.

It was a trick question. Government does not practice rights, so of course the answer is no. It can be no other way.

As for your argument, that would depend on the monetary system in place if the people needed taxed or not for revenue purposes. One thing is always true however. The government might very well have the power to levy taxes, but that does not mean or imply that I do not have the right to find ways around them.
