Republicans Altered Benghazi Emails, CBS News Report Claims [W:361]

More evidence emerging that the GOP has edited Benghazi-related emails in order to create a fake scandal against Obama. It looks like the real scandal is going to be the one about GOP operatives engaging in what may have been criminal tampering with evidence. The question is, were Issa, Boehner and the rest personally involved?

Republicans Altered Benghazi Emails, CBS News Report Claims

Of course the GOP leadership were personally involved. You don't think some low-level operative made such important decisions on their own, do you?

Oh....Hillary Clinton created the video "meme"...it wasn't the CIA, it was Hillary.

Thanks for that gem.

Absurdity...indeed.

I'm sorry, but you seem incapable of remembering what you've posted.

This fact makes it rather challenging to debate something, don't you think?

Perhaps after you've refreshed your memory we could take this up again.

According to the article...

So?

With the White House released documents available to all, what would there be to gain by altering the emails?

The WH didn't release the documents to the public or the press. Only to republicans

Not only did the republicans lie about the emails, but not their hacks are lying about who the emails were released to

LOL....OMG...not only did Hillary "invent" the video meme.....BUT I POSTED IT TOO!!!

Wow....thanks for the laugh.

Are you serious? Seriously?

Well, yes, and no.

Why would emails that could be easily checked for accuracy be altered?

Does that make any sense?

From what I understand, there is no proof as to who released the so called "altered" emails, only that is was an unnamed, unknown member of the GOP.

And with all the revelations about who knew what and when currently rocking the White House, you're perfectly willing to accept their honesty on these emails?

Never mind, I already know the answer to that question.

Are you serious? Seriously?
He also has another one where Dems on the Benghazi hearing had a motivation for leaking the info on the emails......but he just can't come up with a motivation.

Think carefully about what you wrote, and then get back to me.

I see you haven't refreshed your memory yet.

Is this where I write, "I see you have zero"?
No, this is where you link to some quote of mine.....to prove whatever point you thought you had.

No, this is where you go back to refresh your memory so you stop spinning your wheels.

FFR - You need to remember what you post if you want to carry on a debate over something.

:ssst:

Check #42 and what followed.

Perhaps some multi-vitamins, or even some B-12 would help with your memory issues.

Now, it's the end of my day here in beautiful SoCal.

Time to leave the office and head back to the homested by the beach.

Have a good one.

Oh, and get plenty of rest...

Again, if you have anything to show I posted that Hillary was responsible for creating the "meme" of the video, by all means do so.

This was your tangent, you are doubling down on this tangent.

Yes, that is where you started your tangent...I know it. How is that where I started the video "meme"? That is where YOU brought it up.

FFS dude, I'm not the one needing help.

As yet you still refuse to refresh your memory. Why not? Why prove you can't recall what you post?

Republicans Altered Benghazi Emails, CBS News Report Claims

So the article MUST be referring to the piece Jonathan Karl, ABC News, did concerning the '12 revisions’ but note how he describes these ‘edited Benghazi-related emails’:

This is how I reported the contents of that e-mail, quoting verbatim a source who reviewed the original documents and shared detailed notes:

The source was not permitted to make copies of the original e-mails. The White House has refused multiple requests – from journalists, including myself, and from Republican leaders in Congress – to release the full e-mail exchanges.

So Karl is reporting that anon GOPer paraphrased an email because they COULDN'T get a copy...because the ‘White House has refused multiple requests to release the full e-mail exchanges’. If the WH hasn’t released them how could the GOP edit them. OH and to substantiate Karl's WH assertion:
Press Briefing by Press Secretary Jay Carney, 05/10/2013-
Q Since you bring it up, why were those emails provided in a read-only fashion?
MR. CARNEY: It is, I think, a standard procedure for administrations of both parties, going back decades, that internal deliberations are generally protected -- is generally protected information that is not something that is regularly shared with Congress, and then that’s -- to allow for a deliberative process in the executive branch. In this case, to answer just these concerns that members of Congress had, particularly Republican members of Congress, that step was taken and provided. [/B]And they were able to review all of these emails, which they have, of course, now leaked to reporters, but they were able to review all of these emails for as long as they wanted, take extensive notes if they chose to. [/B]
Press Briefing by Press Secretary Jay Carney, 05/10/2013 | The White House

Again, how could the GOP edit ‘Benghazi-related emails’ when per Jay Carney they were allowed to ‘read only’ and couldn’t take copies? Go on you can say it…

Of course if you could provide copies of these GOP edited ‘Benghazi-related emails’ you accusation would have much more merit...

That explains it!!!

I was trying to copy images of some of the emails and only the headers would copy over. That does indeed put a dent in the "GOP altered them" theory.

No scandal!?

Did you read the series? Are you aware of what information was used to start the process and what was left at the end? Why was all that stuff cut out? In particular, why was the information about prior warnings and prior attacks left out? One would figure that was pretty damned pertinent to the situation, don't you think?
Why Bush Ignored So Many 9/11 Warnings - Business Insider
Bush wasn't impeached. Obama has nothing to worry about.

The solution is obvious, send lots of Marines. Next.

A statement like that is a perfect example of a cartoonish view of the military, firstly what Marines? Secondly, do you know the compound was over run in 20 minutes do you think we can just drop a ton of Marines in less than 20 minutes without warning? Thirdly, the same problem exists of going in blind, dropping a small SF team into a rioting city isn't going to turn out well and neither is dropping a few dozen or hundred Marines.

Get a reality check. Now who's playing monday morning quarterback?

Frankly I just find it pathetic that people are so wholly absorbed by their party affiliation that they will defend absolutely anything the party does without question, without facts and without thought.

Why does the Republican Party do this?

Your own source clearly states that members of the Benghazi hearings were able to view the emails for as long as they liked, to take notes. So when they leaked the emails, they either did not take good notes, or they intentionally changed the content. The reporter relied on the leaker for accuracy and didn't get it, meanwhile the story runs and the RW goes off again half-cocked on bad info.

That is EXACTLY the point. The GOP released 'notes' not emails, there was no content to change as they DIDN'T HAVE COPIES TO CHANGE...you have to admit though it was quite an effective tactic as the Karl report was on Friday and WH released the ACTUAL emails on Monday, which they were reticent to do prior.

You are being pedantic. The fact is that GOP members misrepresented the content of those emails. Another word for "misrepresented" is "lied".

If Democrats had done this, it would be another "scandal". When it comes to "scandal", Repubs are the experts on the subject.
