Watergate Reporter: DOJ Phone Records Scandal a "Nuclear Event"......

Sadly, too true! The US has not had a quality leader in the WH since....?

.....I would have to go with Eisenhower. ;)

Obama better get his ass in gear on this, or he'll be remember as the anti-1st and 2nd Amendment president. Frankly I'm tired of the man's arrogance. He seems to really believe that messiah crap. "I won the election, do as I say", gun control, Obamacare, increased taxes.......this guy is becoming a jerk who thinks we work for him. He appears to think his social justice agenda is more important than the country. So if you disagree, he'll try to shut you up. The MSM should pummel his ass, but they won't.

I remember the same thing being said of Bush in his second half of his Presidency. Our last two Presidents (Bush and Obama) are quite literally the same in a alot of respects. Both have instituted programs which have eroded away our Rights and both have the idea that since they are in their last term that they can do anything that they want and screw everyone else. Both have made lame excuses for the things that they have done...including the "I didn't know" mantra. IMO they should both be prosecuted and sent to prison for various violations of our Constitution....along with several members of our legislative branch if at all possible. Of course none of that will happen so its nothing more than a pipe dream.

I would have to agree my friend. :2wave:

I was just a kid when he was in office, but history has been kind to him.

Sure, but there are millions of people in the executive branch. I guarantee you every single day of every single administration there are unlawful things happening. You can't really hold a POTUS responsible for every instance. You have to draw a line somewhere. Though I am comfortable holding a President responsible for the actions of his Cabinet officials. But LEGALLY it is tough unless you can prove direct knowledge.
Your Numbers do not add up!
Treasury Bulletin numbers show the Executive Branch costs $405 million per year.
Assuming anyone working in the Executive Branch makes at least $80 K per year,
They have to have less than 5,062 people.

This action has effectively chilled those who would contact reporters with inside information...secret or otherwise.
Exactly. The simple facts of the case are that a handful of AP reporters learned of a classified operation "in the week prior" to publishing a story, and in response the DOJ subpoenas two months of phone records for 100+ reporters. In some cases their home phones. This is not just about getting to the bottom of the leak, it's about trying to send the AP a message.

Now it's our turn to send the DOJ a message.

Holder: I Don't Really Know How Many Times We've Secretly Monitored Reporters.....

During an interview with NPR, Holder said he "isn't sure" how many times the Department of Justice has secretly monitored information belonging to journalists in the past four years, all during which he has been the country's chief law enforcement officer.

As his Justice Department faces bipartisan outrage for , Attorney Gen. Eric Holder says he is not sure how many times such information has been seized by government investigators in the four years he's led Justice.

During an interview with NPR's Carrie Johnson on Tuesday, Holder was asked how often his department has obtained such records of journalists' work.

"I'm not sure how many of those cases ... I have actually signed off on," Holder said. "I take them very seriously. I know that I have refused to sign a few [and] pushed a few back for modifications."

On Morning Edition, Carrie added that Holder declined to say whether there will be a review of the Justice Department's policy on searches of reporters' records
.

As Ed Morrissey points out, Holder's response indicates that the seizure and monitoring of reporters' communications is a normal thing over at DOJ.

"Er … he’s refused to sign “a few” but isn’t sure how many he’s approved? Presumably, the few modifications for which he “pushed” resulted in approval eventually. That seems to strongly imply that this is a rather normal course of action at the Department of Justice — and for Holder. And note that Holder isn’t saying that he’s unclear about the operations within his executive purview, as Carney tried yesterday on Obama’s behalf — he’s unclear on how many times he himself has approved those seizures.".....snip~

Holder getting ready to testify 1pm EST.....maybe they can narrow it down to how many times he actually has done this.

The Executive Branch includes all the Departments represented on the President's Cabinet. That includes DoD.

Ok. it could be viewed that way, but I think by the time you get more than three levels down from the
President's cabinet, the functional bureaucrats don't make these kind of decisions on their own.
They know who signs their checks, and initiative is NOT considered a positive attribute.
