As an alumni of THE University of Arizona this doesn't surprise me from our brothers to the north.

On the bright side, at least the kid learned his "buddies" couldn't care less if he lived or died. Maybe his willingness to die just to be cool will be changed going forward.

Under state law, there is probably some argument they had no duty to take him to the hospital, but once they took dominion over him to get him there, they had a custodial duty arising from their voluntary actions to get him help. That said, my gut instinct is that this is going to be one of those fraternity things and they did it to distance the frat from the impending corpse. Plus since the student is 19, I assume they assume the dropper offer was also the alcohol provider to someone underage.
That's a lot of assumption and supposition in order to blame the Greek system. They did the same thing in Spady's case, remember that? Turns out it wasn't their fault, her friends abandoned her and left her to die alone. Fraternities and sororities are not the cornerstone of all that is evil in the world despite what some of you want to say.

Possible, but a hell of a lot less likely than freshmen in college binge drinking on the weekends.

like I said, at least they cared enough to take him to the ER. most of my "friends" from college would've just left him laying where he passed out.

That and possible prosecution from the law are the likely reasons as to why they didn't identify themselves.

I don't think that had anything to do with decency. More like trying to avoid a manslaughter charge.

That's what I'm saying. I think overall they did the right thing. Perhaps they panicked about reprisal from either the law or the school from engaging or being around underage drinking and just left the dude there. But they left him there with a note detailing the reason why he was there. Not ideal; but better than leaving them in a closet to die.

I'm thinking waiting room with a sticky note is about 3 donuts short of a dozen when it comes to the cared enough.

don't know. college kids are always doing stupid crap like this. Not claiming his "buddies" are paragons of virtue...only that they at least had enough sense to get the guy to the ER.
