I like Harry because he comes across as a decent honorable “chap” in SPITE of being a Royal. Even some of the mistakes he has made make him more likeable in my eyes.

This, I don't hold much love for him because of that whole Swastika thing a few years ago but, he seems like a decent kid who just made a few mistakes in his youth. Who here can't claim they didn't **** up royally a few times in their teens/20s? I'm still in my 20s and I still manage to screw up badly once every few months.
I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality. - MLK

In my book, no royal is a 'class act'.

Taking money from the ever-poorer masses - even though your family is already STINKING rich - just to be a bunch of figureheads.

And ole Harr has never to my knowledge EVER in any way stated his objection to this confiscation of the British masses, hard earned money to line the pockets of his billionaire relatives.

Until he does, he is no 'class act' to me...though that does not mean he is incapable of making honorable gestures (as this may have been).

But...this is a thread about honoring war dead...so I will drop it...assuming you will.
Do you think that the royal family is being imposed upon an unwilling British public?

    Class act.
What about the millions of other soldiers who do things in the world. Why is Harry special? Because he was born to someone who claims to rule a country by Gods will?

I think they beleive God wants them to be monarchs, and are happy to take advantage of a celebrity worship driven mass public. Which just so happens to make then uniquely unequal to other people.

He's special because through no gift or fault of his own, he was born to his parents and with wealth and opportunity that most folks can only imagine and because he has chosen to live a life of service rather than of indolence. His visiting wounded warriors and so on actually helps bring attention to worthy issues and to raise money.

And so do plenty of other people who wernt born into a particular family. Why arent they similarly worshipped? I dont have any control over the UK, but I can at least try and persuade my fellow posters not to elevate nobility over commoners.

they dont rule the UK so lets get that out of the way and no one is saying he's special but he is a Prince so he's in the limelight and he is an excellent spoksmen for our armed services. He uses the media to pay attention to stuff like the warrior games which ordinarly woud get little coverage. No one cares if a Vet like me runs a marathon for wounded vets because im just another nameless soldier but Harry on the other hand...

They both do and don't rule. The monarch has official power codified in law and protected by the govt. They have special access to govt, and receive taxpayer funding. They get to live on public property simply because their family used violence hundreds of years ago to claim God wanted them to.

My point is we should care if a vet like you runs a marathon. More so because you aren't a special class of citizen. Harry is no more or less important than you, and we don't have to treat him as if he is.

See i respectfully disagree. Harry is royalty and therefore is a British symbol to people around the world so its important he uses his time not just to serve his country but also to bring awareness to causes that otherwise would get little mention. Growing up in palaces, with money etc could easily corrupt a person but Harry seems grounded enough and his charity work far exceeds that of most politicians/celebs.
