Jimmy Carter Named Most Trusted U.S. Politician in New Poll.....

You had my agreement until the statement that Obama has any morals. Sexual adventures are not the only indicators of morals.

For that matter, I think that both Carter and Bush were men of high character and morals. Both were dumb as a box of rocks.

From what I've seen, quality of a man's character is in inverse proportion to their effectiveness as President.

He was a ****ing peanut farmer who gave us 21% interest rates and was unable to rescue the Iranian hostages.

I have seen Chihuahuas who would make better Presidents than Carter.

Screw him.

As opposed to the guy who came after him, an alzheimers ridden failed actor who gave us Iran-Contra, the crack epidemic, hush-hushed AIDS, Operation Charly etc. Well.... hmm... alright.

It's also interesting to note that many right-wing politicians and spiritual leaders on the right were/are TRULY anti-Semites, yet they continue to receive accolades by some of the same people who would criticize Carter.

Regardless of what you think of him as a president, he embodies some of the best qualities of humanity. Of course, you need to take off your rancid partisan hat to see it.
It's even harder to see if you wear a yarmulke.

Well, you're half right. "high character and morals" torture, rendition, WMD lies, Guantanamo, just the tip of the iceberg. From the source. GWShiiteForBrains still studying "My Pet Goat." Smart as a whip. Agreed. Tell that whip to sit up and beg.

When the Hebrews are the only people considered to be semites, all the Arab haters get a free pass on their anti-semitism.

Washingtonpost.com: New Tapes Reveal Depth of Nixon's Anti-Semitism

Beset by the leak of a top-secret history of the Vietnam War and rising unemployment statistics that were hurting his standing in the polls in summer of 1971, President Richard M. Nixon lashed out repeatedly at "the Jews" he saw at the root of his problems.

"The Jews are all over the government," Nixon complained to his chief of staff, H.R. "Bob" Haldeman, in an Oval Office meeting recorded on one of a set of White House tapes released yesterday at the National Archives. Nixon said the Jews needed to be brought under control by putting someone "in charge who is not Jewish" in key agencies.

Washington "is full of Jews," the president asserted. "Most Jews are disloyal." He made exceptions for some of his top aides, such as national security adviser Henry Kissinger, his White House counsel, Leonard Garment, and one of his speechwriters, William Safire, and then added:

"But, Bob, generally speaking, you can't trust the bastards. They turn on you. Am I wrong or right?"

I rarely see anyone call Nixon out as an anti-Semite, except the intellectually honest.

Right.....

Sheldon Adelson gave both Gingrich and Romney millions in campaign money.

Spin again.

Americans really, really trust Hollywood. They are, however, far more skeptical of Washington, D.C.

A new survey on the most trusted people in America finds actors taking the top three spots: Tom Hanks, Sandra Bullock and Denzel Washington.

I find the news that 3 actors are the most trusted people in America sadly disturbing. Well, I take some small solace with the fact that neither snoop dog or tony romo made the list.

Another celebrated figure on the right, the deceased Jerry Falwell. Leader of the so-called 'Moral Majority'.

Jerry Falwell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Falwell's staunch pro-Israel stand, sometimes referred to as "Christian Zionism", drew the strong support of the Anti-Defamation League and its leader Abraham Foxman.[18] However, they condemned what they perceived as intolerance towards Muslims in Falwell's public statements. They also criticized him for remarking that "Jews can make more money accidentally than you can on purpose."[19][20]

Your point?

That this claim is bull****:

It's also interesting to note that many right-wing politicians and spiritual leaders on the right were/are TRULY anti-Semites, yet they continue to receive accolades by some of the same people who would criticize Carter.

Wasn't that everybody on the list? Actors and politicians...

Problem is, who are you going to get that enough people have heard of? I trust my Dad, but for most people he'd elicit a "who's that."

We agree on something! I don't most people would be answer this poll in a qualitative answer. I have to think pretty hard about someone I trust who people would have heard of, and the best I can come up with is John Stossel. I can imagine people might have said Tim Russert when he was alive.

Wow....Many wonder why, the US is going down the ****ter

For the record, President Carter was horrible and is by far the worst President we have ever had

Carter's man love for Arafat made terrorism chic. Just the thought of him embracing a terrorist is sickening.

Of course, terrorism can't be applied to anything Israel has done. They are all sunshine and rainbows.

I can't follow your post. What source? What goat?, What whip? Who should I tell to sit up and beg? What is the meaning of GWShiiteForBrains?

No, Sister Teresa embodies the best traits of humanity. And he's no longer a politician, but an ordinary citizen. Rancid partisanship is putting him on a pedestal.

If you're talking about Mother Teresa you couldn't be more wrong about that evil sadist. Please read the Missionary Position - Christopher Hitchens, or just watch a speech of his or a documentary.

Also, Ghandi had issues too.

My main problem with Teresa was that she cared more about experiencing human suffering than relieving it -- as she felt it brought her closer to God. She went so far as to refuse pain medication to the terminally ill in her hospices. Ultimately, she was an unstable woman who should have been given the appropriate medical treatment, rather than being paraded around by the Catholic Church.

I wouldn't call her evil, just misguided.

Do not speak to me of evil with your six-hundred and sixty sixth post!

GWShiiteForBrains still studying "My Pet Goat." .

I love how the libtards keep bleating on about this and yet not a word ever mentioned about "the chosen one" being AWOL during the attack in Benghazi

I agree. A great person, just a bad president.

If you judge a President in the way we normally do so, yes, he was a terrible President. However, if you look objectively at what he did, it could be argued he may have been the best President in modern history.

I would point to one decision he made that may have been the difference between America following Japan into a period of perpetual stagnation, the decision to appoint Paul Volcker as Fed Chairman. Not only was this decision the opposite of partisan, it was also political suicide. Volcker was not going to put wallpaper over the American economic problems looking for a short term improvement that could make Carter look good enough for his '80 election. He was going to make things look a lot worse in the short run to burn out the stagflation recession and Carter supported this, knowing it was not going to help him politically.

Volcker's monetary policies worked beautifully, although too late for Carter to get the credit he deserved, instead, credit going to Ronald Reagan and tax cuts for the recovery.

So not only was he honest, not only was he selfless, not only was intelligent (in the real way, not politically), but his honesty, selflessness, and intelligence gave him the presence to make a decision that defied his own ideology and created the environment for the growth we have enjoyed for most of the time since 1980.

The only downside, which he cannot be blamed for, is the mistaken notion that supply-side economics had anything to do with the growth made possible by Volcker's policies.

On a personal note, I voted for Ronald Reagan and believed Carter was a terrible President at the time and I believed that Supply-side economics was the reason for our economic growth. It wasn't until I took the time to really research the history that I realized I was wrong. Sorry Jimbo!

Had we followed Carter's plan, we be independent of foreign oil by now, and the middle class would be earning high salaries instead of losing wealth as the rich get richer by milking the cow to death.

Carter was replaced by Reaganism, a plan to convince the middle class to support the greedy rich and throw labor under the bus.
