It isn't necessarily their views either, its the way they present it, straight talk without the propaganda nonsense. There is garbage on both sides, especially on tv, however Rush is one of the worst imo, and I hope to see him taken down a peg, much like Glenn Beck.
Why does anyone think Beck went away? He has 7 MILLION listeners. That's a lot. The news networks are lucky to crack a million.

He's on 6-9 am M-F. He has more listeners than the NRA has members, like I said. 7+ million. Those are the kind of numbers that Cable TV News would kill for. CNN FOX and MSNBC don't even come close. Total viewership of ALL the major cable news networks COMBINED is a bit over 2 million. Seriously FOX was a SIDE gig for Beck. I mean really, all FOX was trying to do was get BECKS listeners to view them. His NORMAL audience outstrips FOXES best audiences by a factor of seven. So really the question is, who fired whom? I am willing to bet FOX didn't fire Beck, Beck fired Fox. Beck makes his money from radio, always has.

Rush had a TV show for 4 years way back when, 1992-1996 thereabouts, before most of the cable news networks existed. He also sold some very nice ties too.
Being on the radio =/= 50 million dollar contract with FOX, losing 500,000 viewers, losing major advertisers and contracting Nazi tourrette's.

I guess you didn't get the point. That's not his real gig and NEVER was. He's a radio guy, radio and TV are two different mediums. He brought exposer for FOX and they couldn't keep it for whatever reason. Beck initially brought the numbers they lost in the first place. Major advertising really doesn't work with those type of personalities regardless of their views. Howard Stern, Rush Limbaugh and the rest are all too controversial, you would think the majors would have learned their lesson by now. They are lured by the big numbers these guys put up. Advertising with these type personalities requires matching product and company types to audience types. General advertising just doesn't work as well with what are essentially niche programs.

He went away from television. As ridiculous as tv already is he somehow went too far and a large portion of his audience gave him a second look and walked away. I imagine Jon Stewart played a decent role in that. AM radio is a lost cause, I can turn it on in my car in any state and hear something so stupid I lose control and end up in the ditch. Tv still has a shred of credibility and professionalism, if not much, we don't need to lose what little is left. That's not to say Beck was the worst program on tv, he was one of the worst that pretended to be a real show about serious subject matter, and that is just scary.

Again I ask how is it he went away? He still has 7 million people listening to him. That's several times more than the COMBINED viewership of ALL the news networks. I'd say he has a significant audience. More than some of the most powerful lobbying groups in Washington DC.

He went away from tv, he was knocked down a peg in terms of prestige. Radio is largely a wasteland of garbage. To see him or Rush neutered in any way is a good thing.

Ok if you say so. The news networks would kill for Glen Becks numbers, let alone Rushes.

I think that it was Beck chafing under FOX and his radio numbers weren't really translating as well as the FOX news network as well as FOX would have liked. Though for his timeslot I think he was number one from when he started till he left, I think the audience gain wasn't big enough to help off set the ad revenue losses was probably the main reason he and FOX parted.

He's starting his own news network from what I gather now. Maybe he will be back soon. Who knows. I was a big fan of his when he first started, he had really funny irreverent show which is what I liked about him. Then he turned into religious super patriot. For me anyhow not so much anymore, I can only tolerate small doses now.

I listen to Rush, he hasn't changed his style in 20 years, I have been listening to him since 1992. I most enjoy his show when he talks about football, golf, cigars, his cats, computers and stuff. He's really at his best though when he does stuff like Dans bake sale, or talking to all the white and blue collar people who lost their jobs couldn't find one and ended up working for themselves, or his CPAC style speeches and riffs. He can be really inspiring when he wants to be.

I wonder if all the fair minded liberals here being happy about this situation with Rush, would agree this need to happen to Randi Rhodes, and other over the top liberal/progressive pundits?
