Every year, one million babies die the day they're born according to a new report by Save the Children. The charity's Mothers' Index looks at the likelihood of death during pregnancy or labour, and finds many of the deaths can be prevented. It also examines the difficulties women face when they become mothers. Despite its economic prosperity, America is one of the worst places in the industrialised world to become a mother. Al Jazeera's Kimberly Halkett reports from Washington.

Remember our health care system according to some is "the best in the world".. Another thing not to be proud of with our terrible healthcare system. (only a matter of time until AAC gets brought into this)

yeah our healthcare system cannot save the lives of every liberal crack baby so sue us.

But somehow Frances can save their "socialist crack babies"

but can they genetically alter their babies?

Leading causes of infant deaths

Congenital malformations, deformations and chromosomal abnormalities
Disorders related to short gestation and low birthweight: not elsewhere classified
Sudden infant death syndrome

FASTSTATS - Infant Health

i guess we are genetically inferior.

Doesnt change the fact...

Frances' system is the best in the world (for the past decade, its been trading places with norway and denmark) and its less expensive than that of the USA.

Look.Obamacare is not universal healthcare. It's universal insurance coverage... not universal healthcare

I understand that i was just saying it probably will get brought up here in some place or another. Always does when talking about healthcare here.

Right.

Well I wasn't accusing you of anything. I was simply pointing out that before people start running their mouths on issues like "this is obamacare and socialized medicine like they got der in socialist Europe", I would make a statement calling people to stop comparing universal (mandatory) insurance coverage with universal healthcare.

With health care in such a bad condition, and now food security is joining the ranks of the most major problems, I am glad to not be there anymore.

I will never understand how we can spend trillions on war and bailing out failed corporations, yet we mysteriously don't have money to make a proper healthcare system happen, or to repair the nation's aging infrastructure.

Our priorities are sickening.

How do these asshats qualify "industrialized"?

ROFLMAO. Oh Al-jerkoffia news .Morons. This **** belongs in the "conspiracy" forum.

You know, when I wake up in the morning, the first thing that pops into my head is, "Gee. I wonder what Al Jazeera has to say today."

Good morning, humbolt. :2wave:

Morning Pol. Doing well, I trust. Al Jazeera says the U. S. is "the" rotten place to be a mother. Course, China's just peachy. They only forcibly abort about a third of all pregnancies. Great place to be a mom.

I hope you are well! I'm having my :coffeepap: and wondering what nasty surprises this day holds! Lots to choose from....

If anyone cared what Al Jazeera says, they'd probably suggest that they concentrate their efforts on rotten places to be a mother a little closer to home?

You bet. Of course, the key here is "industrialized". Because of that qualifier, they're free to abuse their women in the ME with impunity. Hey, who's up for a little female mutilation today?

Now, who wouldn't place their complete trust in a news agency that refers to terrorists as "martyrs", anyway?

Perhaps you could give us a full rundown of issues that affect the data. What actually connects our healthcare system to the data? What other factors would affect that data? Would Obesity rates? Average age of the women? Diabetes? Alcoholism? Drug Use? Type of work being performed by expectant mothers? What sectors of our society are seeing the problems? Is teen pregnancy rates a factor?

Open yourself up to all the data related, not just that that supports your predetermined view.

AJ English is an excellent news source. Right wingers just hear the vaguely Arabic name and think OMG TERRISTS.

"the lifetime risk of maternal death, the under-five mortality rate, years of formal schooling, income per capita, and the participation of women in government."

So whats bad about Al-Jazeera? Oh yea its supposedly "hates the US"

US is also the worst industrialized nation to be 25-35 years old looking for a job.....:3oops:

I love how it's a "liberal" crack baby. That's hilarious. Does that make the babies with fetal alcohol syndrome conservative?

LOL yep classic bait thread

That only presents limited data and doesn't address the questions I asked. "What actually connects our healthcare system to the data? What other factors would affect that data? Would Obesity rates? Average age of the women? Diabetes? Alcoholism? Drug Use? Type of work being performed by expectant mothers? Is teen pregnancy rates a factor?" Obviously your link is biased towards factors they present, but in no way presents all data relevant to the subject.

So what you're saying is that blacks are the problem. I looked at the video, first people I saw were two black women. I see where you are coming from.
