Senate approves online sales tax bill [W:244]

What is one program? Where does this program come from? Does it automatically update the constant changes in sakes taxes? Does it "collect" any add-on taxes such as city, county, special bonds etc. If so, who maintains this system?

It's one program.

Computers are actually pretty good at selecting from amidst many options

Also interesting how this turned into a Liberal vs. Conservative issue with the Liberals supporting the regressive tax and the Conservatives opposing it.

Sometimes, I wonder....

Poor people don't buy a lot of stuff online.

Yes, it reveals something but I'm not sure what exactly that is.

Interesting how conservatives are opposed to states rights, while the liberals support it in this case

Yeah, blood sucking conservatives who don't want to pay taxes, but want public services.

Let's see how fast Can'tor moves on the next hurricane from Texas to virginia .

The fright wing wants all goods to be tax-free, including guns sold online without background checks. They have not gotten rid of all government regulation yet but they're on it 24/7. As with their spin machine to create disharmony and sew the seeds of discontent.

I hadn't thought about the gun connection. Now that you point it out, I suspect it looms large in the rightwing bizarroworld of no-new-taxes.

Could this be ANOTHER plot by Obama to deny tea partiers their sacred taxfree Glocks?

The program to calculate the sales tax based on where the product is being delivered. It's one program, and there are several companies who are already offering the program to vendors on the internet.

Yes, it automatically updates it's database to reflect changes in a states sales tax and it collects all applicable state and local sales taxes.

The program is maintained by the corporation that provides the software

Yes, it reveals something but I'm not sure what exactly that is.

it reveals that the right doesn't want to pay taxes, no matter how legitimate they are, while the left recognizes that sales taxes are a valid and constitutional form of taxation

Are you sure? Many things are cheaper online.

Being poor may only mean low income, not stupidity. Or am I wrong?

Online shopping requires a computer and a credit card.

Not saying that no poor person has both, but I suspect it's not as common as it is at higher incomes.

Easy for you to say and for me to pay.

But it's a pretty big burden on people who don't have a lot of money. I'm a strong supporter of income taxes but I'm not as big a fan of regressive taxes.

Cheaper doesn't mean lower income people can buy them. The sales that make this an issue are bigger ticket items: computers, cell phones, expensive cookware. Stuff like that.

Do you really think conservatives are fighting to protect poor people from taxes? BWHHAHAHAHAHH! Oh for fun!

Well enlighten us on why they are supporting it.

You can order Glocks online tax free? GREAT! Please provide a link so I can order one right away...

On the Glocks, one can only hope, if for no other reason than to pith off the libertarian wrongs. But first I must get mine in confederate Indiana where there are plenty of no background gun shows. Then I'll be safe to return to Illinois where we conceal carry, legal or not. And then there's my brothers in all the hoods if I need to hold off the fright-wingers.

I understand, but the answer isn't to let some people avoid the legal obligation to pay taxes that everyone else has to pay.

The answer is to change the state laws.

Actually the House GOP freaks aren't.

But to answer your question, even the weird conservatives in the Senate realize that not taking online sales discriminates against brick and mortar businesses, which is bad mojo.

Do it before the online tax goes into effect. Hurry! You need a gun to fight off ACORN.

Interesting presumption. My Cat Ladies buy dry food on the Internet using a credit card. This will add a burden of may $10-$20 a month to them.

I'm the guy who questioned why these taxes were so politicized so please answer your own question for my edification.

??? Has the house voted on it yet?

That's right, and they also know sales taxes are consumption taxes which are the 'best kind' and are oh so progressive...;)

GOOD FOR THEM!

Didn't ACORN 'disban'?

Yeah, but weirdly the Tea Party Occupied house voted to defund it anyway just a couple months ago. That's how freaky rightwingers are.

I'm sure you know all the gun porn websites. Better buy soon!

Nope. I've been wanting one of you 'progressive types' to provide one of the links that enable one to purchase a firearm (Glock specifically in this case) online without a BGC. But unfortunately it has been all talk and no ass...

Typical progressive/liberal meme :lamo

Then once again I refer your to my earlier post suggesting that the state of the sale collect the tax for themselves.

How do you feel about states or areas that give tax free benefits to companies to incentivize their opening a business there? Is that unfair to the competitors?
