Saudi Diplomats Trafficking Women?

A case of "possible human trafficking" at a Saudi diplomatic compound in Virginia is under investigation, Homeland Security confirmed to News4.



Agents from U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement/Homeland Security Investigations and Fairfax County police were called to a home in the 6000 block of Orris Street in McLean overnight and, in the words of a source familiar with the investigation, "rescued" two women. One woman reportedly tried to flee by squeezing through a gap in the front gate as it was closing.

It's not clear if the women, who sources say are from the Philippines, called investigators to the home themselves or if someone else did.

"Homeland Security Investigations DC did encounter two potential victims of trafficking and the investigation is ongoing," a D.C.-based spokesman for ICE/Homeland Security investigations told News4.....

If the women are from the Philippines, there is a high chance they are being trafficking for sex. Saudi Arabia has a history of using the sex trade in the Philippines. From a 2009 State Department report:

The Philippines is a source, transit, and destination country for men, women, and children trafficked for commercial sexual exploitation and forced labor. A significant number of Filipino men and women who migrate abroad for work are subjected to conditions of involuntary servitude in Bahrain, Brunei, Canada, Cote d’Ivoire, Cyprus, Hong Kong, Japan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Malaysia, Palau, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Taiwan, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates. It would appear these women escaped from an Official Saudi Compound on US soil. Thoughts?

Still.....if these women are not US citizens and the Saudis have Diplomatic Immunity, then the most that can happen is they can be told to leave the Country. As I doubt they can be taken to criminal court over it.

Nope. By international law, it's not our problem and not our responsibility. We should, however, expel the people responsible and reconsider our entire relationship with that reprehensible regime.

That "diplomatic compound" is obviously a residence. But whose residence is the question. Diplomatic residences also share the same inviolability that their diplomatic occupants share. US law enforcement cannot enter that compound without the Saudi Ambassador's permission, if it is indeed diplomatic.

Heya Sarcogito. :2wave: Yeah I tried to get the Pic to come up on that residence. Has a gate and more than likely it is manned. Still for the Saudi to even think they could get away with this crap here is.....quite telling. So they play it......as long as it isn't an American they can do what they want, on our soil.

I still have over a year so I have time.

Yeah, the whole dip immunity thing can be frustrating for some. I have plenty of family members who complain that these foreign diplomats can come to the US, and even commit murder (a la Lethal Weapon II) and avoid prosecution. But it is all about reciprocity . Not all countries have sophisticated judicial systems and it would be easy to frame a diplomat, such as me, for some crime for political reasons and cut off my hand, throw me in prison for life, or execute me. So while I definitely get annoyed at how immunity can be abused by some, I am glad it is there, especially for my family.

Oh, okay on your shipout.....for some reason I thought it was much sooner. Still time passes quickly. Due to the situation on the ground over there, could they change up your orders for anything sooner? Hope You would let us know if they do.

Think anything will come of this, despite DHS and ICE being involved? Still if I was a local cop and nothing was done I would have to keep an eye on the place. I wouldn't listen to any FED saying leave it alone they have Diplomatic Immunity.

Moreover I know I wouldn't put up with the Saudi even telling me that line outta of their mouth. I would tell them just like it is.....I catch ya kidnapping any girls. You won't be needing to tout up any papers.
