Why should the government sponsor religious activities of any sort? You even admit this is affecting "Christianity in particular," which would seem to indicate that this National Day of Prayer is something you perceive as a Christian thing. Why should the government be sponsoring one particular religion?

I agree.. If we had people focusing on "reasoning" their way thru life, those who continue to get richer and richer may find their lifestyles in danger. Those who feast off the government may find their hand outs in danger. Those who hold tightly on to their gun and the bible may find themselves empty handed.
    - There was never a good war, or a bad peace.
    - Idealistically, everything should work as you planed it to. Realistically, it depends on how idealistic you are as to the measure of success.
    - Better to be a pessimist before, and an optimist afterwords.

Yes, reason did get us into this situation because reason is a subjective term. It's "reasonable" to go to war on a whim. It's "reasonable" to pass Obamacare. It's "reasonable" to deregulate welfare. I could go on and on. Reason to one is insanity to another. Your version of reason, that God doesn't exist and "screw Christianity", is not reasonable to me. It's very irrational to me. There is no standard for what is reasonable and what isn't. Hence, reason got the world into the situation it is in.

The predicament of a failing United States and the "reason" that went into it.

And herein lies why no one takes you seriously on this website. Because you can't express an opinion without being over the top ridiculous about it and you can't express an opinion without attempting to offend someone.

Yeah, because 4700 people haven't liked what I've said or anything...
There is nothing demonstrably true that religion can provide the world that cannot be achieved more rationally through entirely secular means.

Hey now. Comparing one of our posters to Snookie?

That's a low blow, man. I mean, childishly insulting an entire religion is one thing, but you crossed a line. You should be ashamed of yourself.
