Tamerlan Tsarnaev got Mass. welfare benefits!

I guess we'll have to see when more information comes out but take note that being added to the TIDE doesn't mean you've been convicted or that they've proven you're involved in anything, people simply suspected for various and classified reasons can be added. It would not provide a legal basis for removing someone or their family from these benefits, in fact it may even hinder an investigation if the suspect were told by the state you'd no longer be receiving benefits because they were added to the TIDE list.

Welfare should require background checks, random drug screens, and monitoring of recipients in regards to personal activities and the pursuit to find stable income to get off of welfare.

Sounds good, you gonna pay for it?

They obviously weren't doing their jobs here, progressives support terrorism, you should be happy

No, but it does proves liberals support programs that fund them

That's pretty stupid, that's like saying conservatives support guns that killed the MIT cop therefore conservatives support terrorism. Gimme a break.

Look he also went to a university which is tax payer supported as well, used public transport, all kinds of things. If he had been caught before hand he wouldnt have been receiving these benefits but to damn the whole system because it gave support to an unknown terrorist is silly.

why was he unknown? why are we supporting immigrants? why should we? who is silly again?

Feistein and Obama have said that, I guess it is ok then

Seriously? It's liberal terrorism because a guy who was receiving welfare went nuts and killed some people?

I'm pretty sure welfare has existed through both conservative and liberal administrations.

So was 9/11 a reflection of conservative terrorism?
The crap some of you people come up with is astounding.

You mean like gun bans because they kill people on their own, give me a ****ing break

Why he was unknown is a good question and I'm sure they are looking into that, as for why we are supporting immigrants that doesn't apply here since he was a US Citizen.

I think it's an inconsequential factoid. Like saying he liked to wear blue socks. Fact is he received transitional help when the family first came here and he and wife received some aid for a while. They started making enough that the aid was ended.

Somehow I don't think that's what tripped his switch.

This means something I guess? I dunno what the hell is your point?

well, the guy didn't strike me as someone that should be receiving benefits, to be honest. I mean, he apparently was training in boxing and MMA and traveling to russia.

So, what is the connection? Do you think that the fact he received welfare sent him over the edge? Or do you think a substantial number of welfare recipients are seeking gainful employment as terrorists? Or what?

block-cheese jihadists?

bottom line we were supporting him, this is a big flaw in our welfare system. He had money to buy weed, drink, attend Dartmouth, yet the taxpayer was supporting him. Ridiculous

I think it demonstrates how corrupt that system is and requiring recipients to take drug test for benefits is not over reaching.

When entitlement is in your mentality, there's a very short distance between taking all you can from society and hating that society because it doesn't give you more.

It's also very true that there are untold numbers of people who come to our shores and take advantage of our generosity and laugh at our foolishness for being so generous - they consider it a weakness wereas we consider it a strength.

I think it is sad to think about how much we give to be people like that when we could be focused on the people that want to improve their lives

Unfortunately, we never can tell for sure until we offer them the opportunity. Some people can be offered the world on a plate and still complain about the cutlery.

Good morning, CJ. :2wave:

Great analogy! Makes you wonder what it would take to satisfy some people! :2brickwal:

It bodes to be a lovely weather day here, so I'll be outdoors as much as possible. It's nice to feel the sun shining down!

Good morning Lady P - yes, it's nice and sunny here today, still a little cool, but I hear there are some warm breezes from the gulf making their way up through the American mid-west on their way to the Great Lakes and bringing nice, spring weather with them. Enjoy your weekend if I don't see you - should be really nice.
