$20 million budget under Bush became $11 million under Obama

Both administrations neglected domestic bombing prevention, devoting a tiny fraction of the $1 billion earmarked for IED prevention overseas
Obama issued a lengthy 'National Policy for Countering Improvised Explosive Devices' in February but a spokesman won't say if it failed

Barack Obama's administration has cut the budget nearly in half for preventing domestic bombings, MailOnline can reveal.
Under President George W. Bush, the Department of Homeland Security had $20 million allocated for preventing the use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) by terrorists working inside the United States. The current White House has cut that funding down to $11 million.

That assessment comes from Robert Liscouski, a former Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Protection, in the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings on April 15 that killed three Americans and injured at least 173 others.

Being a libertarian shouldnt you be in support of this? I mean slashing left and right?

Does this mean fiscal conservatives are happy Obama worked to trim the budget like they've asked? I don't understand the point of this thread.

See, I'd think reducing the involvement of the police state in our lives would be considered a good thing to a libertarian...

Just to be clear, are you suggesting or saying that because this budget was 9 million smaller the Boston Bombing was able to go off?

I am just presenting facts, your injections mean nothing here.

See, I'd think reducing the involvement of the police state in our lives would be considered a good thing to a libertarian...

See there are very very few actual "libertarians" in this country.

I don't think obama has ever taken domestic terrorism seriously, his best buddy Bill Ayers was a bombing terrorist.

Who woulda thought bull**** about Bill Ayers get brought into this!?

PolitiFact | Not a radical group, and Ayers didn't run it

"Vietnam-era radical Bill Ayers said he doesnt know President-elect Barack Obama any better than "thousands of other Chicagoans" and the two never talked about Ayers' anti-war activities" snopes.com: Barack Obama and Bill Ayers

It means as per usual dem's slash defense first and foremost.

It doesn't matter. If somebody is intent on hurting people, he'll do it no matter what you try to do to stop them. Isn't that right?

So let me see if I have the conservative argument here correct. According to conservatives, whomever is responsible for bombing the marathon was going to do it no matter what we try to do to stop them, and we need to work hard to cut our budget deficits, so conservatives are congratulating Obama, correct?

From where I sit, conservatives should be patting Obama on the back for cutting spending, and put the blame where it belongs, which is on the mentally unstable person who created the bomb.

I'll await your praise of President Obama any time now.

It means as per usual dem's slash defense first and foremost.

Shouldnt we be doing that? Kinda seems to be common sense..

Obama is going to cut Social Security and Medicare! So much so, more than the GOP's budget! You should be happy libertarian!

that does make me happy, ACA makes me very unhappy

So then why are you bitching about police forces with bomb prevention? Its cuts right? Arent you in favor of a "small government"?

That doesn't really answer my question, I'm asking what you conclusions you are drawing from this fact about this budget in your OP.

So do you want Obama to spend more money? I'm a little confused as to where you stand here.

Are you happy money was cut or are you advocating for Obama to spend more money?

I am always happy with cuts, I am laughing at liberals that thought Obama had their best interests in mind
