Texas governor to Connecticut gun maker: "Come on down"

AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) - Texas Governor Rick Perry on Friday said a gun manufacturer that has decided to leave Connecticut should "come on down" to the Lone Star State.

PTR Industries, a maker of military-style rifles, threatened to leave Connecticut after the passage of one of the toughest gun-control laws in the United States. Connecticut enacted the measure in the wake of the Newtown school shooting that killed 20 first-graders and six adults.

"Hey, PTR," Perry posted on Twitter on Friday. "Texas is still wide open for business!! Come on down!"

The Connecticut law bans high-capacity ammunition clips of the kind used in the December school shooting and adds to the firearms covered by the state's assault-weapons ban.

A second Connecticut gun company, Stag Arms, a maker of AR-15 style rifles, is also threatening to leave the state. The companies are being wooed by officials from gun-friendlier states such as Florida and Arkansas, as well as Texas.

Why support a state that isn't friendly to your business? There are plenty of other states who would love the additional jobs and revenue successful businesses could generate.

Why shouldn't they move to Texas? They already said they will leave a state that is unfriendly to them. Since Texas currently has a high enough population and the most tax friendly laws in the country, why shouldn't a business consider it? He not only has made offers to that company, but has made offers to any company that finds their current location to be overly burdensome due to taxes and state laws.

The only downside to such a move by the gun maker or any other company would be if it caused brain-dead liberals to move also, thus infecting Texas and possible causing a repeat of the same conditions that caused the moves.

Well take your companies and the good people, you keep the Liberals, progressives and any other socialist/commies.

It never ceases to amaze me that if a Liberal said such things about Conservatives, they'd get a smack down real quick. I guess it's ok if you're demeaning Libbos.

I can only imagine what you'd say if the shoe was on the other foot. What if a company said "We don't care for Texas' attitude toward gays. Maybe we'll move to a state that's more gay friendly." The Conservative Persecution Complex would be coming out in full force.

good point, which i have raised to of other subjects, ...what is the point of liberals /progressives leaving states which support their valves and they have voted for.......to now move to a state which does not support their values.

in short........why leave California which you have turn into a socialist state by your actions, and move to a state with more liberty.... because the socialist state you created screwed you over with it laws/ regulations and taxes....thats what you voted for

It's harder to make the glorious revolution happen from such distances.

i dont help elect politicians who create laws /regulations, and increase my taxes, and when protest them...... by moving away from them.

if i helped create the problem, by electing them , then why not sit in the mess you make.

the question is should it be missed?

yes, because of the politicians in that state they are driving out a business which pay taxes to them.

a state acting as though it does not care if the people employed in it have a job or not is not a sign of good government.
