Georgia’s Republican governor won’t endorse town’s first racially integrated prom

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal (R) has refused through a spokesperson to endorse one town’s first-ever integrated high school prom, saying that he would rather not take sides on the issue. According to Atlanta’s WMAZ Channel 13, politicians from both parties have stated their support for black and white students from Wilcox, Georgia, but Deal declined to join them.
Raw Story spoke to activist Bryan Long of the progressive group Better Georgia, whose group has asked Georgia elected officials “to publicly support the students of Wilcox County who arefighting to end a ‘separate-but-equal’ high school prom.”

Republicans can't get the Africsn-Amerixan vote because they have allowed Democrats to paint them a certain way.

Why the Governor of a State would be asked about a local issue. It's not a state issue. There was no answer he could have given that would not have pissed some people off. He should have just refused to answer the question.

They have allowed themselves to be painted that way by responding to ridiculous inquiries and questions as if they deserved serious answers. They get asked questions that have no reasonable answer and then abused when they answer in an unreasonable fashion.

He shouldn't have answered it. Either that or he should have said.... That's a local issue not a state one, talk to the mayor instead of me.

and he would still wind up looking like a political coward who refused to take a position regarding a racial question

First ever integrated prom. 2013. Unbelievable.
