First ever integrated prom. 2013. Unbelievable.

It does seem weird. The sad part is Georgia isn't even the most backwards part of the south. The Carolinas are even worse.

In the governor's defense, he had nothing to gain politically from making any type of comment, and anything he would have said would have been used as ammo against him. As it is not really a state issue, silence was probably the best course politically for him.

This is complicated I know, but....did you know that Georgia is not Kentucky? It's true.

According to Huffington (only other source I could find) The Wilcox school board or the HS have nothing to do with organizing these separate proms. The NAACP in GA has 'asked' the parties to step in.

I don't see it as damning that he simply didn't have anything to say. But the fact that racial integration still needs to be done is just mind boggling.

which is why it is such a shame the governor did not have the balls to say that

appears he doesn't want to piss off the good ole boys by coming out in favor of desegregation

According to a prominent Tea Party activist, this tape could have come from the Right.

And I agree that McConnell is coming unglued.

We haven't had a Democratic Governor since 2002.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

There are a lot of Georgians not too happy with Deal. But if the Georgia Democratic Party puts up another Atlanta Liberal to run against him next year, Deal will win easily. But a South Georgia guy, like perhaps John Barrow could win against him. But the Dems in this state love their Atlanta Liberals. Deal switch from Democrat to Republican back in 1995.
