Yes, right now it is social issues that is dominating the news, unless North Korea blows up. But you are right, not media attention of just 88,000 new jobs and the increasing amount of people that just gave up looking for work. The Republicans help the president out on the social issues by constantly sticking their foot into their mouth.

I do not think either party knows how to fix the problems facing America today. If they do, they certainly do not have the political will. It could be done, but every American would have to suffer a little, but if you make everyone suffer a little, you lose the next election. So nothing gets done and we continue to head for the abyss. Once in it, every American will be suffering a whole lot when they need not of had to. Thanks to our present day elected leaders.
    Excellent post, Pero!

Why is it necessary to jump into the abyss to learn the lesson? Anyone who believes it will be enjoyable has a rude awakening coming! i'd rather take a whack now than a beating later...

So would I, but when everyone of our elected leaders is looking to the next election and not towards the future of this country, you get business as usual and he continuing to kick the can down the road. None of our elected leaders are willing to do what it takes to get this country back on solid financial grounds. They just want to win the next election and once the country falls into the abyss, then perhaps after it is too late, some will do what was needed to be done several years ago.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.
