Wussification of America

Because, obviously, they're a buncha ******s; a product of the Liberalised public school system.

They probably came from Leftist families, where they learned, "Just sit back and suck on it! Never stand up for yourself."

Another he man tough guy has found a hero in the Rutgers bully. Good for you.

WTF do you expect them to say? Nothing I post is illogical, but your posts I'm not so sure about...
Dude, if you're trying to troll me, it's not working. If you're not, God help you.

Deflection again. You criticized wiggen's position on the assumption that he didn't play any sports, but professional athletes and coaches hold the same position as wiggen? Do you concede that your original criticism of wiggen was illogical?

I haven't seen a single college coach, nba coach, or player do anything except condemn this bully. Yet the Right wingers on here jump to his defense. Go figure.

Dude, if you're trying to troll me, it's not working. If you're not, God help you.

Dick, if I was trying to troll you, you would have already been played out and caught...

I played a hell of a lot of sports. I never had a coach scream disgusting homophobic insults at me, let alone physically abuse me. But then again, your a 'liberal':lamoin Alabama, so maybe that's the way your world works.

I had a baseball coach in HS that cussed me like a low-down-dirty-dog and after I got back from my 3 day suspension for throwing a bat at him, he asked me to come back to the team and be team captain, because I was the only member of the team that had a set of balls. I told him to stick it up his ass...sidways.

Yeah, except if somebody on the other team throws a basketball at your head or kicks you, they get a double technical and an automatic ejection. Are you familiar at all with sports?

I played about 15 hrs/wk of basketball in college. Guys get hit with a hard throw plenty of times when trying to save the ball from going out of bounds, often intentionally throwing it at the opponent so it's uncatchable.

Played some organized sports in my youth (swimming and track primarily, a little baseball). Can't recall having a coach that didn't insult us from time to time to get our asses moving. Most were at least slightly homophobic.

Why didn't the Rutgers players just say, "**** you jack! I quit!", if they were so opposed to how they were treated? None of them were man enough to stand up to the coach. No wonder they have a losing record.

A sum-bitch hit me with a basketball like that and he would have gotten hit back with the same ball, only harder and his is ****in face.

yeah that coach didn't look like he'd do to well if a couple of those guys decided to give him a "facial"

Behold, revisionist History in the making!

Yeah, but it goes way beyond that. This is a poster who's claiming that ending racial segregation is the cause of our downfall as a nation. And yet not one conservative poster took him to task.

Nah, conservatives don't have any problem with racism:lamo

Getting yelled at is par for the course. Physical assault is not.

Why? Didn't you accept his verbal and physical abuse as just part of the game?

avoiding trollish posts is a common sense way to avoid getting docked points by the autocratic and unfair administration on this board, it does not constitute condoning the trollish posts.

Oh but it was sooooo hurtful! Just kidding. Agreed, for the most part. And with further though I can't say with honesty that I wouldn't go after a coach I saw physically or verbally dressing down my grandchildren. But then that a part of the problem we've been talking about. I don't want my grandchildren to fall down, but I know that is part of learning to live in the world.

Says the fellow who somehow doesn't believe he can manage to convey tone through writing. :lamo

Im not saying that you CANT. Im saying that it can be difficult. Here, let's go back to my first post (the post in question)
ahhhh! the "good ol'e days" when "men" were "men" and boys would be boys.
A conservatives wet dream.

Tell me, what tone do you see here? It's not a trick question either.

Sarcasm. Which brings to mind an old 60s locker room joke. How do you separate the men from the boys? With a crowbar.

Nonsense, kids compete naturally. If you had been involved any young children's sports you'd know that most of them don't keep score these days by policy - but the kids always do regardless of the lesson the adults are trying to teach.

No one is suggesting abuse or ****ty treatment - that's YOUR strawman built to suit your need to blast your political opponents. Not to mention hilarious considering you're heaping abuse on those you perceive are competing with you. :lamo

Thank you. Let's not forget, my OP was not aimed at defending the coach, but about society being as soft as wet Charmin Ultra-Soft.

The defense of this man's actions are hilarious. The guy was a ****ty coach, did a ****ty job with the kids, was abusive and was fired for it. Coach K does nothing like that but he gets results. This has NOTHING to do with a wussification of America, but a political spin on an asshole coach that had every right to be fired based on his record alone.

I think that has to do with society always trying to equate men and women, instead of focusing on the unique values of each. I even hear women complain about chivalry being gone. But I think that's partly due to fewer women acting like ladies. Every day you hear complaints for them to join boys football or military front line. Anyone who knows the basics of reverse-engineering can give the most likely reasons as to why men are physically stronger, women softer, men less emotional thinkers, etc. I credit a lot of my successful marriage to my wife and me being very traditional. From the day she moved in with me, we didn't even have to discuss responsibilities.

Interesting, to use the word unique and then stereotype complete genders, got to love it!

How about letting individuals decide rather then their 'junk'. I have met some pretty small guys who would do no better in the 'military front line' as any woman. Met some women who I'd gladly walk point with. How about we open doors for women who appreciate it and complement women who act like ladies. But let us not wolf whistle at the female cop or swat the waitress on her ass.

SOME men are stronger, some women can't open a jar of pickles, but that is SOME.

I don't think one couple's marital success can be distilled to a universal ointment. My marriage has had quite a few dis-CUSS-ions one who does what, and it isn't 'traditional' what ever the hell that is...

26 years, not a done deal but a damn good start...

Yes our young people are getting wussy. and political correctness is to blame. **** tolerance, peace and understanding. Beating up an unpopular minorities or weak kids is great anti-wuss training. Too bad we didn't elect Romney, a real man known to beat up on long haired faggots. We should encourage kids to join street gangs so they toughen up. Give every boy a gun and knife when they turn 13. There's nothing like getting shot at by an AK or doing a driveby to make you manly. Time in prison is a great way to learn how to deal with the real world. The commies and ragheads are tough, we need to keep up and get as barbaric as the ****ing caveman we're meant to be.

irony alert

The HUGE difference is that you don't have to physically manhandle them or use racial and homophobic slurs to teach them. A "real man" does not need to use force or slurs to teach a valuable lesson. He leads by example.

Exactly. Only insecure males resort to bullying. That's why the coach's ugly behavior resonates with the OP.

Insecurity -- conservatives are soaking in it.

By the way, can you imagine John Wooden acting in such a barbaric fashion? He was always a gentleman. He was secure and knowlegeable and earned the respect of his players. In conservativebizarro world Wooden was a wussy.

You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you.

Be true to yourself, help others, make each day your masterpiece, make friendship a fine art, drink deeply from good books - especially the Bible, build a shelter against a rainy day, give thanks for your blessings and pray for guidance every day.

More pop psychology from the Right.

Whether kids compete or not is not the issue (having four kids I know all about that, sonny). The issue is defining losing for 8 year olds as somekind of political failing of American culture that needs to be whipped out of them.

That's the nonsense of the OP. Don't blame me for pointing it out.
