Wussification of America

This is where the big problem lies, and it's occurring throughout the Western world. Video - Opinion Journal: Liberal Academics Gone Wild - WSJ.com

I think he/them were wrong to focus only on the level of higher education. This kind of leftist or wrong attitude is being indoctrinated into people as early as primary school, possibly sooner. In too many areas, the public education system has become a "create good leftist", not create good people.

He said he would be happy to do studies on other education facilities as well but he was only commissioned to do this one. But of course you are right. It has spread like a venereal disease throughout the educational system.

I love this silly tea party meme. It's one of the most lunatic ones and so is especially charming.

But maybe you should stick to the teleprompter meme.

Meme fallacy: when HoJ doesn't have any other rebuttal, he likes to describe things as memes. See appeal to ridicule.

I agree with Bolling's point yesterday about Americans becoming wussies and political correctness being a major source.

There's the sense of entitlement since we don't let kid's experience failure nowadays. That includes things from not letting kids fail at school when their results are insufficient to handing out participation trophies. Some schools are even banning sporting activities to prevent anyone from feeling like a loser.

We surrender to just about any complaint, rather that seeing if any of the responsibility falls on the complainant. For example, schools are removing a cross or picture of Jesus if one or two people complain, even if a hundred want it there. Someone needs to speak up and tell them to ignore it if they don't like it.

You might say "the older generation always says the younger is worse." However, the upward trends for the numbers in divorce, kids born out of wedlock, government handouts, obesity, average age people live with parents until, etc. speak for themselves.

What will it take to get society to acknowledge these mistakes and fix them? Feel free to add more.

Eric Bolling: Mike Rice Firing Symbol Of 'The Wussification Of American Men' (VIDEO)

You and Bolling don't actually know anything about cultural and social changes in the US over the last few hundred years, do you?

You're just assuming you know something - and by gosh - determined to use something like removing religious symbols from public schools and firing an abusive cad with no sense of self control or sportsmanship as an example of said false assumption.

At the very least - I expected the OP, based on the title, to actually be about the rise in public aloofness when a tragedy is afoot (IE: college students doing nothing in response to a shooter on the rampage whilst in a crowded cafeteria). Instead, I just read some sniveling bull regarding religious displays and the firing of an ass.

Maybe that's an example of the wussification of America: People who pick the LITTLE THINGS to gripe about whilst the bigger, more important issues, go entirely ignored.

These end-of-the-world fashions come and go with leftists always always front and center to 'Save the Planet' when they can't even save their neighborhoods, and often their own homes. But 'saving the planet' makes them feel better about themselves and they really don't have to do much else but sit in front of their computers. There'll be another 'crisis' soon enough and the Al Gore types may already preparing for it now.

Sure its tiresome, but this has been going on for centuries. It's the modern media that gives them the larger platform and presence and their idiocies are more easily, and constantly, replayed. They certainly fall under the category of gullible, poorly informed wusses.

Too many so-called "Liberals" and "Progressives" are primarily concerned with defending, promoting, and censoring the truth to protect the Democrat Party than they are with reporting facts about war casualties, bad Presidential policies, and lack of accountability.
Too many "Liberal" blogs are funded by the Govmnt/Corporate war profiteers.

Now that Amy Goodman and John Stewart catapulted the propaganda to intervene in Libya and mouth the govmnt lies on Iran and Syria, I'm not sure there is a Liberal media anymore outside the Blogs.

Stewarts/Colberts guests - the CFR guys always pushing new wars for the Military Insutrial Complex, like the Clintons, John Kerry, or authors like: Tom Friedman, Condoleezza Rice, Dan Rather, James Zogby, Bill Moyers, Jim Lehrer, Paul Krugman, Angelina Jolie, Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor of The Nation, Joe Biden, Peter Bergen of CNN, etc.

Being a Liberal is One Thing ...
But Just Being a Shill for the Democrat Party Govmnt is Another Thing Entirely !!!

Read some of the comments at these blogs you will see what I mean ...

Only 16% Think Government Telling the Truth about 9/11

"There is a huge gap in what the world knows about 9/11 and what the 911 commission discovered and published. Without going into conspiracy theories, we are simply reporting the fact that 84% of Americans and more Non-Americans simply do not believe the official theory."

Only 16% of Americans think the government is telling the truth about 9/11 and the intelligence prior to the attacks: New York Times/CBS News poll | Rupee News

Quality counterargument

Instead of your little "you don't know anything" attack, why not post something with substance to argue why the social changes aren't heading towards a bunch of lazy and entitlement-minded (plus a few more adjectives) wussies?

I don't agree with your quasi-conspiracy theories (Bush was too inept to pull off anything involving complexity), but I do agree that the progressive media doesn't get it. It spends it's time rebutting the absurd factual claims of the rightwingnoise machine, rather than understanding that the RNM doesn't make factual claims, it just propagates memes. Rather than validating the tea party types by taking their claims seriously, as if they had any merit, progressives should use RNM techniques and just point out how the meme works and why delegitimize conservatives for their use of them.

Politics is a battle of narrratives not of facts. The facts are and always have been on the side of progressives. The problem is conservatives don't make factual arguments, they tell little stories. Progressives need to delegitimize the stories, not engage them as if they had any merit.

I've actually discussed - in depth, ad nauseum - the social changes and such of America. Everything from welfare to healthcare, marriage to education.

I don't see the point in repeating the same discussions and debate with someone who agrees with Bollinger's mindless rant.

That's an interesting and, I think, astute observation AS. When I see these chest thumping, hair-on-fire headlines, it's just so much whining, mewling noise, and I have to think, "Really, this is what you choose have your undies in a twist over?".

The "progressive" Liberal wuss-fest continued on Thom Hartman today, who was content to have a guest on who reiterated news lies about Obamas war policy in Syria. She said the govmnt was considering military assisatnce to the rebels. Well, if you believe the NYT, WaHoPo, Global Research, BlacklistedNews.com,LandDestroyer blog, James Petras, the Asia Times or any number of accredited historians, professors and authors, Obama/CIA military aide to the Al Queda terrorists/FSA has already been happening for two years, aside from the sanctions on Syria, logisitics and training by US special forces inside the country, drone survelliance, and the Israeli bombings which some analysts insist would not have been done without US approval. So why is the highly repected and gifted author and media host, Thom Hartman still lying about Syria on his show?

It sounds more like a strawman trying to explain why the GOP isn't the ruling party anymore. Eventually the dems will be too corrupted to maintain popularity.

But the GOP will still need to be a little more open minded on gay rights and religious freedom down the road.

Sort of in line with what others have said, I think the "wussification" is because people are too hooked on the media, and news has become merged with entertainment. Anyone else notice how it's common place in movies now to see real CNN or Fox news anchors having cameos? That should really tell you a lot about what has become of the function of news networks in upholding democratic consciousness.

I grow tired of constantly hearing these "gotcha" stories that do nothing but feed partisanism, or serve as nothing more than a distraction from the real harm facing the nation. The more I hear about this crap, the more stupid I fear we are becoming.

If you think it's a strawman then let's hear your explanation for all the negative statistics I mentioned. The Obama administration is leading by example in not taking responsibility and pointing fingers.

Please clarify what you mean about religious freedom. I'll remind all that it's freedom of religion, not freedom from religion.

Freedom from religion is implied. Just like the Right to Bear Arms is not an obligation to do so.

Unfortunately, I believe that it's a natural trend with a society such as ours, who has had a decent history of innovation and economic success overall. I think that toughness only happens as a result of necessity, but I also think that necessity will make itself known once again. It will be a time for seeing the wheat separate from the chaff.
I tend to agree with this.

Freedom from religion is implied. Just like the Right to Bear Arms is not an obligation to do so.

The Courts should not be following laws which are only 'implied'. We see the negative consequences of these 'activist' courts far to often.

Freedom from religion is implied. Just like the Right to Bear Arms is not an obligation to do so.
Freedom from being obligated to practice religion is implied. Freedom from seeing and/or hearing others practice their religion is not.
