Perhaps even Sue Everhart.

And if she is entitled to question the motives of others, then her marriage is fair game.

Nope you cant make this **** up.. I wish it was from the Onion but social conservatives seem to be running out of excuses on why DOMA and banning gay marriage should still be active.
It is actually a real argument for a change. I am not saying it is a good or non-hypocritical argument, but it actually shows the selfish desires and reality of the situation to the politician. What is one of the supreme court cases on gay marriage about? It is about the collection of taxes on the estate of a dead spouse. I think it was around 300k in tax revenue that will be lost. Now this is coming from the party of less taxes, but we can finally see some reality in the selfish nature of the people opposing gay marriage.

It is not and has never been about god. if it was we would forbid the spiritual joining of same sex couples by churches and other spiritual organizations. We don't touch that, and no one is suggesting outlawing gay marriages by religious organizations. You can get married before god all you want as a gay couple. You could have a big gigantic wedding in a church and have the whole town show up. You can be blessed by god and some preacher for your union. The only thing you cannot get is benefits. That is what this is all about. No one gives a damn about what god says, but they do care about what the state says. When the state says you are married you get benefits from it. People want to keep gays from getting those benefits because they are selfish, and we finally have that argument coming out.

It is a sucky, selfish, prejudiced argument. At least it is a real one. Oddly you can actually argue back with logic and reasoning with this point. There is no logic and reasoning witgh god says so, and you cannot argue with the supposed words of an imaginary being.
