I remember Sam Nunn at one time was considering running for president, but the DNC told him to forget. Sam was one of our longest serving Senators, a moderate to conservative Democrat. I think this was back in 2000. Then in 2002 which might have been in retaliation to the DNC, Georgia turned from a Democratic State to a Republican one as we elected our first Republican governor and a Republican state legislature for the very first time. A lot of the old Democrats changed their voting habits as a result to the snub to Sam Nunn.
With Bayh I would have to agree, the Democrats.....specifically the Progressives wouldn't back him. But I do think he is one of the more Intelligent Democrats out there.

Meet Mia Love, Utah's First African-American Mayor.

Saratoga Springs made history Tuesday night, becoming the first Utah city to elect a black woman as mayor.
Councilwoman Mia Love defeated challenger Jeff Francom in the contest to replace outgoing Mayor Timothy Parker.....snip~

The latest rising political star is so many anomalies that you could’t possibly make her up. You may want to sit down for this: She is black, Republican, lives in Utah and, yes, is a Mormon.

Her name is Mia Long. She is currently serving as the mayor of Saratoga Springs, Utah, and has won the primary to become Utah’s Republican candidate of the 4th Congressional District. If she goes on to win the general election, she will become the first African American congresswoman to serve in the House of Representatives for the state.

Long has generated a lot of support and media buzz in the state because of her religious transformation. She is the offspring of Haitian immigrants who converted to Mormonism and she leads a city that has a microscopic minority population. But she feels right at home.....snip~

Rising Republican Star Is Black … and Mormon; Who Is She?

This is Love's story: Her parents left Haiti for the U.S. 39 years ago. Her father worked several jobs to support the family, including paying for his daughter to attend the University of Hartford, where she graduated with a degree in fine arts.

"I remember taking my dad to college with me on the first day of orientation and he looked at me very seriously, and he said, 'Mia, your mother and I have done everything we could to get you here. We've worked hard. We've never taken a handout. You're not going to be a burden to society. You will give back,'" Love said in an interview Tuesday with Fox News.

"It actually stayed with me," she said.

Love, who was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and raised primarily in Connecticut, moved to Utah in 1997 and married Jason Love. She converted to Mormonism and served on the Saratoga City Council for six years before running for mayor.

Love, a favorite among the Tea Party movement, champions fiscal responsibility and limited government. Her chief mission, she says, is to run a "fiscally sound city."

She sounds interesting. If she wins a congressional seat she might become a rising star. I thank you for the information. I will have to start keeping tabs on her.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

You put Bayh at the head of the ticket for 2016, he wins Indiana, probably Virginia and North Carolina and would be a real threat. But of course it all depends on whom he would be running against.

What would be really great would be people referring to her by her name rather than as "Stephen Colbert's sister." I'm a little sensitive about this because every news source that reported on "Chilly" Miller's death several days ago continually referred to his more famous brother.

There is no data re the party affiliations of his voters.
Why didn't you point the same facts out with Marion Barry and Jesse Jackson Jr? Oh, I know, because you don't care when the stupid hyperbolic comment is against dems, right.

Frankly, I haven't visited this thread for a long time. There are no records of the party affiliations of Barry or Jackson voters, either. (In Barry's case an educated guess is possible because there are about four Repubs in the District of Columbia.)

And how many Dems are there in the 81st district in Louisiana?
