I doubt there were too many people who voted for both of those people (one or the other, sure, but not both), and it'd be remarkable if someone who did posted here at DP.

The district is all golf courses and military retirees. Sanford by at least 10 points.

I don't know. The district is only about +11 points Republican. Akin and Mourdock last year underperformed by 25 and 17 points last year. But their gaffes were different than Sanford's scandal. Plus it's a special election so turnout would be weird. A 10 point Sanford win wouldn't surprise me, but neither would a Colbert-Busch win.
There should be Instant Runoff Voting

I meant a collective "You", as in "your party." Democrats will elect, and re-elect, the damnedest people.

There's assholes on both sides, don't start a "holier than thou" scenario here acting like the Republicans don't have a few nuts...

By that logic I can say that YOU voted for Michelle Bachmann, by far the biggest looney toon in congress.

I agree about both sides to a degree, but you can't compare Michelle Bachman to Al Sharpton or Marion Berry. One is diametrically opposed to your views, while the other two are tax cheats and glorfied drug-addicted mob bosses.

On Tuesday, a Public Policy Polling survey showed Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch in a virtual tie with likely challenger Mark Sanford in the special election to fill South Carolina's vacant House seat. Busch led Sanford 47 percent to 45 percent, just within the poll's 2.9 percent margin of error.

The poll also found Busch tied, at 43 percent, with Curtis Bostic, her other potential foe for the May special election. Bostic and Sanford will go head-to-head in a Republican primary run-off next week, a contest Sanford is heavily favored to win, despite having left the governor's office in disgrace after his bizarre extramarital affair came to light four years ago.

That Busch is performing so well may come as a bit of a surprise. The seat in question, representing South Carolina's 1st District, is reliably red. It hasn't been held by a Democrat in more than 30 years, and Tim Scott (R) last November won re-election there with 62 percent of the vote double what his Democratic challenger received. (In December, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley (R) appointed Scott to fill a vacant Senate seat, prompting the special election.).....snip~

Stephen Colbert's sister could stun Republicans and win a House seat - The Week

So does anybody think Colbert's sister can win this House Seat? Do we have any from SC that is up on this situation?

Why did the Southern Cons allow this Putz to run for the House Seat? This is what I have brought up in the past about Southern Cons trying to make moves without checking with others. Why would you even Risk this House seat over this Douchebag?

What did we tells ya? The Rest of us that lean Right autta come down there and smacks ya upside the head.

Ya'll best not lose that seat. Otherwise we gonna have to make ya an offer ya can'ts refuse.
The republicans have a knack of nominating some pretty dumb candidates, last year the GOP gave away Indiana and Missouri to the Democrats in states they should have won with over 60% of the vote. Then in Montana and North Dakota, the Republicans nominate senate candidates that weren't liked there either. The GOP has no one to blame but themselves if they lose this seat and the others I mentioned, not counting Nevada and Delaware in 2010 with extreme no chance to win candidates.
This Reform Party member thinks it is high past time that we start electing Americans to congress and the presidency who put America first and their political party further down the line. But for way too long we have been electing Republicans and Democrats who happen to be Americans instead of Americans who happen to be Republicans and Democrats.

That's true.....which is something many have been talking about. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, are just the beginning of more people of character stepping in, that are smart, intelligent, about principles and values. We have some very bright and successful women that are rising thru the ranks. I think we will see more vetted by ourselves and with reminders about getting out in front of the camera and playing the Media's game.

She should win, that sleaze ball Sanford shouldn't get the time of day from the Republican voters.
