en. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) suggested Sunday he wouldn't mind if the Supreme Court struck down "the federalization part" of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) when it takes up the issue this week, since he believes the issue should be left up to the states.
"I've always said that the states have the right to decide," Paul, who opposes gay marriage, said on "Fox News Sunday."

"I do believe in traditional marriage, Kentucky has decided it, and I don't think the federal government should tell us otherwise," Paul said. "I don't want the government promoting something I don't believe in, but I also don't mind if the government tries to be neutral on the issue."

States rights is modern code for deny civil rights.

I still have not figured out how it is my business if a couple of gay guys want to get married? IF they do or not has no ill effect on me that I can see. What ever happened to erring on the side of freedom?

Why do liberals support "states rights" when it comes to drugs or in this case gay marriage but are against "states rights" when it comes to immigration? Answer: The don't know their asses from a hole in ground.

That is just not true.

The ad hominem is classy.

There is no they. Your thinking is simplistic and childish.

Ah, insults from the classic liberal, please throw a tantrum next, it does not change the truth

There is no they.

There are people who believe in equality and rights.

There are those who pick and choose and call themselves liberal or conservative.

You should try thinking.

Then there are those that sit on a fence and claim superiority while believing in nothing

You also have a double standard.

You should try just believing in rights and freedom.

I believe in states rights, always have. You shold try reading a few posts before making asinine assumptuions.

Oh so code for the state should have the right to violate individual rights and equal protection.

So states have the right to deny people their rights?

they aren't doing that when remaining neural about sexual preference, as if it even needs to be defined by the legislature.
