Rebels pick US citizen as Syrian prime minister

ISTANBUL (AP) — The man chosen to head the Syrian opposition's new interim government is a Syrian-born American citizen who has spent decades in the United States working for technology companies and advocating for various Muslim causes.Members of the opposition Syrian National Coalition electedGhassan Hitto in a vote early Tuesday to head an administration they hope will provide an alternative to President Bashar Assad's regime and help coordinate the fight against his forces.
"The new government will work from the starting point of complete national sovereignty and the unity of the Syrian land and people, which can only by achieved through continued determination to topple Bashar Assad, his regime and all its pillars," he said in a speech in Istanbul.

I wonder how many of this dude and his cabinet members are in the CIA's fold if not part of the CIA directly? Looks like the warhawks might actually try for even more regime change based on this? Sounds like a terrorist sect.

Story states that he is fluent in English and has the mind of accountant; that makes it sound like he will be very expensive for the US and very soon at that. ;)

Would you be happier with an Iranian / Syrian?

or maybe a North Korean / Syrian; oh wait I know - a Kenyan Syrian!

I heard AlQ would be given the throne and they would be worse than Assad. Who does this guy and the UN think they are?

Just another puppet of our government.

You're saying that the guy and/or his (presumably) cronies are CIA and therefore the CIA appears to be a terrorist sect? And you base this on what.

I'm pretty sure that you just claimed the CIA was like a terrorist sect based on wild speculation. And even if he is CIA, that's not like terrorist sect.

Just another puppet of our government.

Soon all will dance to our strings!! Muahahahaha!

Wait, did I post that out loud?

well that is certainly unexpected. When President Palin torches his butt, just remember it was Eric Holder who said it was okay.

Am I wrong or is diplomacy off the table and this guy basically wants bloodshed and regime change?

I don't trust techies. He's probably genocidal.

If he's fluent in English and has the mind of an accountant, you could use him in the White House.

He would rather be president of a nation getting billions in US foreign aid, I can assure you. ;)

yeah much better we get a puppet of al queda huh!

Yep that's exactly what I'm saying.

Honestly, do you think before you start typing?

Well you seemed so hurt that it might be someone favorable to America, our United States, so I gathered you must hate us so much you want our enemies in charge - would I be wrong? I'm just reading what you wrote and figured if you can't stand the idea of an American backed person trying to lead them you must want something else - like our mortal enemies. Do you even think about that when you post your dismay at an American being involved? Or does hating America just come natural? It is so "centrist" of you.

I see it as proof that our politicians will now dive in head first with support instead of concentrating on pacing down the American overseas war efforts. That makes me sad but oh well that's just the way our world works I suppose.

Yet again that is the libertarian point of view, but that POV isn't the one supported by the majority of American's. We prefer our nation be safe and not wait until our enemies are at our gate - lessons learned many years ago before WWII actually.

What was it Ceaser said? "All you gotta do is say 'I am Roman'. And well come save your ass" Forgive my paraphrasing. Something like that.
