That is just a happy side effect of the Republican's voting against the wishes of the majority of voters. Christy and Jon Huntsman realized that the small tent approach is not an election winner for the GOP. But the CPAC speakers doubled down on the small tent focus. The speakers- Rand, Palin, Bachman, LaPierre, and Trump are like a dream team to represent the GOP in 2014, at least from the liberal perspective.

There is nothing that the hoplophobes can possibly offer us that is a fair trade for the rights they have already taken from us, or the rights that they yet seek to take from us.

There is only one way to accomplish this. That is for any person who can be proven through proper due process to be too dangerous to be allowed in free society to be removed from free society. Keep dangerous criminals in prison; and keep the dangerously insane in mental hospitals.

Infringing upon the right of free Americans to keep and bear arms is not only unconstitutional, not only illegal, and not only unethical; but it does nothing whatsoever to fulfill the claimed purpose for doing so.

The problem is that those in politics who are on the side of gun control are not being honest about whose side they are on. They are not on the side of honest, law-abiding citizens, but on the side of criminals and tyrants. This is why they seek to disarm law-abiding citizens, and this is why they do not seek to remove dangerous criminals from free society. Anyone who thinks that those who support gun control do so out of any concern for the safety of law-abiding citizens is a deluded fool.
