There are no facts in this issue. It is only emotion. You have an emotion, if they pass a law then they will eventually take them all. This is called paranoia. It is a good indication that your thought processes are not working correctly. I am now of the opinion that you are a good candidate for having your rights taken away. If you cannot figure out what my point was, you are not smart enough to have a gun. Your ability to analyze a situation is flawed and I don't trust you with a deadly weapon.
Aren't you the one trying to argue that we should cave to the anti-2nd amendment side in hope that they don't take any more guns?

A simple question, is the killing of innocents the price we will pay for absolute rights to own guns?
Is the killing of innocents the price we pay to own a car, knives, baseball bats or any other thing that has killed more people than guns have?

Is there nothing to be done about it?
Criminals do not obey laws,so any restriction you impose effect only the law abiding. So they can steal a firearm or buy one on the black market. There is also the fact that not all criminals have a record and therefore can pass a background check.

You want an emotion. Your attitude and the attitudes of many make me say something I am not proud of. I hope the next time some asshole is killing children in a school it is only the children of anti-gun control people. That would be poetic justice.

    There, now I am done.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

What Obama and Reid have planned is to try to regain demorat control of congress in the 2014 elections, giving them a free reign for Obama's last massive federal gov't expansion plans. Plan B is to simply keep the federal social program spending from being cut and painting the republicants as the "party of no" and "friends of the rich".
Republicans are the "party of no" and "friends of rich." Democrats could be the worst thing on the planet and that would still be true.

Simple answer, then. If those "certain firearms" are basic infantry and paramilitary weapons like selective-fire battle rifles, fully automatic machine pistols, or handguns then yes, requiring a license to own and carry them is an infringement of the Constitutional right-- and the basic human right-- to keep and bear arms. Requiring a license to own heavier ordinance, such as machine guns, grenades, and mortars, does not violate the right to keep and bear arms.

Got emotional and tried to use it as a way of making a point about your perspective having no concern for the innocent. It was a deplorable attempt.

I apologize for the bad comment. I don't want any innocent people killed and don't care what they or their parents political opinions are. I do wish I had not written that. I would erase it but it has been commented on and I should accept that I said it and regret it.

There is a Basement conversation started on it and will be back in tomorrow probably to take my thumpings.

It's idiotic to think that taking guns away from law abiding citizens will stop crime

Lanza planned these murders for years. Sandy Hook was inspired by video game violence. People need to read the new information that is coming out about Lanza. When he tried to buy guns, he was denied. The existing gun laws on the books worked. As a country we need to take a stand against these left wing tyrants who would exploit the murder of children to attack the Constitution and assault the Bill of Rights. Enough is enough. They are blatantly targeting the Constitution now. We can no longer sit idly by, accept their wacky premises, and have a rational discussion with these people. They are too far gone. They've been brainwashed. They must be opposed politically and defeated.

Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting: Adam Lanza Planned Rampage for 'Years' with Murder Spreadsheet

Stebbins said police now believe Lanza thought of the mass shooting as an opportunity to win video game-like glory by racking up the highest amount of kills. They think he chose the elementary school because it would be a location with the least amount of resistance, and provide the easiest way to score "points."

"They don't believe this was just a spreadsheet. They believe it was a score sheet," the source continued. "This was the work of a video gamer, and that it was his intent to put his own name at the very top of that list."
So what are we going to do now? Ban high scores? Spreadsheets? Video games? FPS? I'm pissed off it that stupid legislation even got as far as it did, but it shows how emotionally dumbed down the infection of liberalism has made this country. When I left HS I was glad to get the hell out of there. Now I'm forced to live it every damn day. You can't escape it. The trash entertainment shows glorifying awful people in the entertainment industry. The narcissistic celebrity worship. The Obama cult worship is everywhere. It's Orwellian.

Why should I allow a Marxist who is pals with Bill Ayers and Reverend Wright take away my guns and shred The Constitution? What gives the Left the right to piss all over the greatest document ever conceived by man? Obama took an oath to defend the Constitution. Not attack it.

The whole bill should be shelved.

What Reid did was almost a foregone conclusion. But now it won’t be dragging down the remainder of the gun restrictions. It is very possible background checks and registration may increase and that is just a step to ultimate confiscation.

The assault ban was a stalking horse from the get go for all but Dear Diane. It’s like the budget item you never really needed but could give up to look good. The rest of the mess looks so much more benign by comparison.

Reminds me of an magician. Watch the birdie in this hand while I pick your pocket with the other.

I’m more worried now than before.

I'm still nervous about what might be in the bill. It could be anything. It would not surprise me in the least of a bunch of "never going to pass" legislation was included SPECIFICALLY so they could get rid of it, and then stealth-pass something else like a rider for the ACA or NDAA or a tax hike or something. I mean, that's how the ACA ever made it back to the House in the first place - a bill about something completely different that was gutted, had new provisions inserted, and then sent back down.
