Whatever they intend to pass, from either house, after the dust settles... if it impedes a persons ability to defend themselves....I am against it. More people die from being hit by a car driven by an idiot. Yet we don't see congress looking to outlaw cars.

Well why don't they start with minority crime in minority neighborhoods with hand guns where the lions share of gun crime is. Instead they try and pass useless laws that would have had no effect whatsoever on the most recent school shootings or anything else for that matter.

Just pass laws that would restrict the rights of law abiding citizens, hell that makes sense.

Bunch of scared pussy ass'es who don't know the first thing about firearms and what to pass laws that do nothing but make them feel less scared. That is until they realize the useless laws they just passed didn't do anything either.

Sorry, lost my mind there for a minute. I thought the end must be near. I am over it.
A compromise implies both sides are giving up something in order to get something in return. The only side giving up stuff is the pro-2nd amendment side. The anti-2nd amendment side has not given up anything.

But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

I agree if assault weapon ban wont pass then at least put something that will pass on the floor. I hope the background checks pass. Hopefully they get some substantial to pass.
I was hoping all the dem senators up for election in 2014 in purple states would have had to vote on the gun ban so we could get the same results we got in 1994. Dingy Hairy is worried more about keeping his SML position rather than kissing Obama and Biden's collective asses

His posts demonstrate an almost pathological hatred of white conservative Christians and exhibit a belief that banning guns will mostly screw over such people. Crime control has absolutely no role in what motivates the militant gun haters who whine about the NRA and lie about guns.

Your right the people that want to have more gun control should just wait for the next group of school children executed in their classrooms and then take all the guns.

The assault ban will do nothing to protect us. But making sure stupid assholes and crazy people can't get them will. You don't fit into either of those groups do you? If not, then your rights haven't been taken, right?

This isn't about the debate over gun control. This is politics at it's worst. What Reid is doing is attempting to box Republicans in a corner. Yes, he waters down the gun control bill. Now, if the Republicans kill it, they still look bad in the eyes of the Moderates they are going to need in the future, as Democrats will hammer them for killing background checks, which Americans overwhelmingly support. If Republicans pass it, they piss off their base. This was Machiavelli at his finest.

But, after it's all said and done, I think the bill, in it's present state, works for me. People get to keep the weapons they choose to have, and there will be no loopholes in background checks. But, again, this was not about the worthiness of the bill. This was sliminess on Reid's part, and nothing more.

I would like you to tell me where you get that dope. It is obviously something that will make me not even know where I am.

How is making the bill rational and able to be passed, to fix an obvious problem, slimy. The fact that there are some Republicans with their heads up their ass about gun control does not make it slimy. It is good politics in a manner we seldom, actually never, see anymore.
