TSA agents 'humiliated' wounded Marine with aggressive inspection: report

Are people mad because a person was treated this way or because a marine was treated this way?

If they have no issue treating an obvious "friendly" this way, imagine what they'd have no issue with when it came to YOU.

It's possible for a terrorist attack to come from pretty much anywhere including left wing loons who decide to bomb police stations and the Pentagon....but I notice that such groups are not part of Madame Janet's memo.

Guess how DHS defines who is a terrorist now
Two weeks before the U.S. Department of Homeland Security penned its controversial report warning against “right-wing extremists” in the United States, it generated a memo defining dozens of additional groups – animal rights activists, black separatists, tax protesters, even worshippers of the Norse god Odin – as potential “threats.”

They have lots of memo's about the possibility of lots of different threats. Does that mean they consider all of them "primary threats"? You are only focusing in on one memo in order to prove your deluded theory that the government, and more importantly Obama and "madame janet" hate veterans. You're wrong, and laughable so.

TSA draws attention for amputees’ screening - Abstract

I can't imagine what the hell these people were thinking, especially not stepping up to help this guy stand and so forth!!

This is out of control government, many of y'all applauded it. This is the natural consequence when government no longer has to abide by our rights and human dignity. Why is anyone surprised? Also, it ain't gonna stop here. The longer we allow this to continue, the worse it's going to get. And there will be a nonzero number of idiots, cowards, and authoritarians calling for more.

Living free ain't easy, people seem to forget this.

I bet hes wondering exactly what the hell he sacrificed his legs for right about now. Sorta seems like the terrorists won in the end to me. But that's just a personal opinion.

Well if they "hated us for our freedom" then they have won. But mostly it's government's win over our rights, liberties, human dignity, and self worth.

And the TSA screeners routinely fail, seemingly through the absence of common sense.
and that's my point
THIS screener played by the rules
THIS screener was not going to allow himself to be one who allowed a threat to get past the last line of defense
rather than criticizing his thoroughness we should laud it

These screeners didn't step up to help this Marine stand, when he obviously couldn't without a lot of pain. What rule was this? Where was the decency? No where to be found in TSA training, that's for sure.

I don’t think military members should get special treatment in security screening. After all, our history is full of active and former military members committing all manner of crimes, from Presidential assassinations, to mass shootings, to blowing up federal buildings.

I do believe the TSA should treat all people with respect and should give special assistance to those who are not physically able to follow all instructions easily, as in the case with this Marine.

The real crime is that this man lost his legs at all based upon a pack of lies by Bush/Cheney et al.

Government treat us with decency and dignity? Not on their own accord, we have to make them. How much is our dignity worth? What is the price of our humanity? TSA shows that the government will disrespect us, infringe upon our rights, marginalize us at every turn if we are not careful. This is a Republic if we can keep it, I suggest we all figure out what that means.

What more proof do we need to show that TSA is a waste of money? Hmm? We've had them search children (even a disabled crying girl in a wheelchair), the elderly, etc...

This should be the straw that broke the camel's back. A vet who lost his legs gets harassed by these rent-a-cops? It is infuriating. This whole system along with Homeland Security needs to be ABOLISHED ASAP!

No that is not your point. Your point is if they follow the letter of the law everything will be alright. That is bull****, and where common sense comes in.

It is **** like this that morons think is acceptable that got us into this situation to begin with. This is not acceptable and there is no defense for the way they acted. You do not make a person in a wheelchair stand without help etc. How much brain power does it take to figure this out?

Nice strawman. Oh it's an all volunteer army, go figure?

It's a damn shame idiots still think Bush is in office or lied about something the entire intelligence community backed him up on. That is the real crime of your post.

History will not treat Bush/Cheney well. The facts will never change.

They mostly wanted to go into Iraq. If the entire intelligence community was that far off, I have to question the intelligence part. Also it means that their reports are not enough to base decisions of war upon.

Are you planning on stating your own opinion on this topic, so we can debate it?

Im still waiting for you to answer the presented question, then i'll give you my 2cents.

As if this does anything to address your wrong and historically wrong off topic statement. :doh

Coherency is not your strong point.

The Russians, Israelis, US and English intelligence agencies all thought Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. Saddam wanted everyone to think he did. So the joke was on him.

So whether they "mostly" wanted to go or not is irrelevant. They did not lie, they did however have information that because of Saddam himself was not accurate.

Now can we get back on topic or can we expect you to continue with the "blame Bush" rant as well?

I fly at least once a month, just got back from Philly, went to party with a few Irish folks.

Been flying this schedule with little variation in timing, but many different destinations starting before 9-11. All that is to say I have seen TSA from the git -go.

The reasons for having a TSA can be debated, out of the the thousands of memos generated in the decade TSA has existed, one or two can be pulled out of the stream and tut-tutted...

You can discuss early bad training and human error.

But I'd want a bit more than Duncan Hunter's word for anything to include the sky is blue before jumping up and down.

First off I have NEVER seen a bunch of TSA screeners just sitting around in the screening area. There just isn't anyplace for them to do that. The Id card/ticket checker out front has a podium or desk. The Xray operator can on a high stool, the supervisor can have a desk but in places like Lawton, Wichita Falls, Des Moines- the screeners stand, all of them. Philly has a stool for the Xray operator and an odd bar/stool area for the supervisor and cop to stand/sit.

In total the number of places a TSA employee can sit in sight of the screening area, much less 'just hang-out' are extremely limited.

Another 'fact' I have never witnessed in the years of flying... a surplus of TSA workers at ANY checkpoint. I'd say the exact opposite, they seem to never have enough people on duty to man enough screening lanes to prevent lines. I WISH they had enough people 'hanging out' at a screening station so I could complain, but the opposite is the truth.

The attitude of the TSA screeners has changed in the last few years, perhaps the little tyrants have been eliminated, maybe a different set of leaders has adjusted enough attitudes. What I can say is the attitude sure has changed, yes there is the occasional young guy who sounds like a cop making a drug stop but for the most part the folks smile, are VERY polite, VERY respectful. I have seen more agents thank troops for their service than ever. Help elderly through the machines, very carefully explaining the pat down AND the options...

Not saying SOMETHING didn't happen, AM saying there most likely is a bit more to all this and quite possibly a more accurate version is out there than a bunch of next generation spitters humiliating a vet while lounging around an airport TSA station....

It is on topic, and I blame Obama as well if that makes you feel better. Large government fascists like Bush and Obama should not be tolerated.

I agree, but she was wrong and your comment has little to do with my factually correct statement. Yes this has absolutely nothing to do with the OP and TSA agents.
