Little League raffles off AR-15 rifle to raise money | The Lookout - Yahoo! News

The Atwood-Hammond Little League partnered with the local armory for the raffle, which launched on Tuesday. "It has been going gangbusters," Charidy Butcher, co-owner of the Atwood Armory, told WAND-TV. “My phone has been ringing nonstop since 4:30 this morning. It’s just been crazy."

Butcher said she's received calls from people as far away as Washington state wanting to enter the June 29 drawing. A ticket costs $20.

What a fantastic idea!!!!

Brilliant.

How'd you like to referee those games after such a raffle? :lamo

I find it rather fascinating how there's such a strong gun culture and a lack of pro-education culture in the US

Hows all that education doing you guys out in CA? Limited liberties, state in collapse... hmm..

They are just whipping up the gun nuts. Just like all of the other "give-away" types.I find it rather fascinating how there's such a strong gun culture and a lack of pro-education culture in the US

People who try to call civilian firearms "assault weapons" and standard capacity magazines for those firearms "high capacity magazines" have no room to make comments about the education of anyone.

I think its cool!

Any bets on how long it will be

before a bleeding heart lib tries to stop it?

Yeah I don't think anybody cares. It is interesting to see the reaction of "gun enthusiasts". It's definately good marketing when your consumers knee jerk reaction is to throw money at anything gun related. Identity consumerism. It's like liberals and buying local but even more useless and dumb.

My opinion has as much weight as YOURS.

Ummm... educate yourself. Education is bad is most places of the US.

I don't think they will have any issue making money from the raffle. In that sense I say it was a great idea. Plus look at all the publicity they just received for free. Good on them.

A rifle raffle.

And I am surprised by the levels of personal cowardice and required apathy in the USA.

Maybe they could get Gifford to donate his since he bought it because he doesn't want it for himself.

My opinion is rooted in fact. AR-15s are not military weapons, they are not assault rifles.People trying to claim or imply that AR15s are military weapons or assault rifles are idiots or they are trying to prey on the ignorance of people who don't know any better. Nor are 20-30 round magazines for those ar-15s high capacity. People trying to claim those are high capacity magazines are ignorant or they are trying to prey on the ignorance of people who don't know any better.

What happens when the winner can't pass the background check to collect his/her prize?

Yeah...assuming the winner can pass a background check, I'm good with it.

My opinion has as much weight as YOURS.

nope-that is one of the fallacies that come from left wingers. an opinion's value is based on the expertise of the author. Jamesrage has proven to us who understand this issue that he is well educated on this issue and thus his opinions are generally sound

your opinions-not so much

One of the Democratic Party's main group of toadies is the main cause of that problem
